Says It Would Be a ‘Crummy World’ If America Wasn’t Constantly Intervening Jason Ditz

Speaking over the weekend at a conference in Singapore, Defense Secretary James Mattis urged the world to “bear with” the US as they adjust to the election of a new president, insisting that the US remains committed to engaging in global intervention, and that it is “very deeply rooted in the American psyche.”

I was thinking about writing a post containing the list of CEOs of major US corporations who have come out against Trump’s decision regarding the Paris Climate Accord. I am overwhelmed. I would make my life easier by writing a list of those who haven’t.

I cannot let it go unsaid regarding one of these: Elon Musk. It is really hilarious to consider that he has no company without the government’s involvement in the climate.

None of these CEOs is a climate expert; all of them publicly complain about regulation. You would think that this combination of characteristics would lead to either at best cheering the elimination of the horrendous regulatory burdens imposed by yet another international scheme or at worst shutting up on a topic that they really don’t know much about.

But, of course, we know better.

Sen. Burr Wants All Copies Returned to Ensure They Never Get OutJason Ditz Posted onJune 2, 2017CategoriesNewsTagsCIA, Torture, Trump

The likelihood of the full version of the 2014 CIA torture report compiled by the Senate Intelligence Committee ever being made public has dropped precipitously, as President Trump has begun returning all copies of the still-classified document to the committee chairman Sen. Richard Burr (R – NC).

Last year Philippine president, Rodrigo Duterte, ordered US troops to leave his country, cutting 65 years of military ties. This dispute has been bubbling up for awhile, and Duterte has finally had enough of US Imperialists treating him like a “doormat”. His decision was a major blow to the US Military Industrial Complex as the Philippines was a key stronghold to put pressure on China in the South China Sea dispute.

C-SPAN will be recording “The National Security State & JFK” conference in its entirety. This is a testament to the conference’s impressive line-up of speakers and the ideas that they are presenting. Set your DVRs or watch the conference live.

The conference will begin with an analysis by the noted economist Jeffrey Sachs of Kennedy’s famous “Peace Speech” at American University in June 1963 and end with a panel presentation on President Kennedy featuring Academy Award-winning director Oliver Stone. You will hear some of the most insightful and thought-provoking talks on the national-security state, including one by former GOP Congressman and presidential candidate Ron Paul, and Stephen Kinzer (former New York Times reporter and author of Overthrow: America’s Century of Regime Change from Hawaii to Iraq); Douglas Horne (author of Inside the Assassination Records Review Board: The U.S. Government’s Final Attempt to Reconcile the Conflicting Medical Evidence in the Assassination of JFK); Michael Glennon (author of National Security and Double Government); Peter Janney (author of Mary’s Mosaic: The CIA Conspiracy to Murder John F. Kennedy, Mary Pinchot Meyer, and Their Vision for World Peace); Jefferson Morley (author of CIA & JFK: The Secret Assassination Files); James DiEugenio (author of The Assassinations and Reclaiming Parkland), Michael Swanson (author of The War State), and Jacob G. Hornberger (FFF president and author of The Kennedy Autopsy).

At this conference you will learn how and why America was converted from a limited-government republic to a national-security state, how America’s foreign policy of regime-change has adversely impacted our country and others, and how the United States became the premier country in the area of assassination.

You will also learn about President John F. Kennedy’s policies during the Cold War, his dramatic decision to reach out to the Soviet Union and communist world in a spirit of friendship and peaceful coexistence, and the enormously adverse, negative, and volatile reaction to JFK’s plans to change the direction of our country.

Tomatoes Hate Cucumbers: Secrets of Companion Planting + Popular Planting Combinations

By Krystal Trammell

Did you know that tomatoes hate cucumbers?

While they might taste great together in a salad, tomato plants actually dislike growing in close proximity to any member of the curcurbit family, which includes cucumbers.

Tomatos love carrots and basil, however – so planting these together will actually make them each grow more vigorously!

Sounds hokey? The idea that some plants and plant families are “friends” with others and grow better together is called companion planting, and it’s been around since the dawn of food cultivation.

Abolish Memorial Day

by Justin Raimondo Posted on May 28, 2017

Author’s note: I had actually started to write a Memorial Day column when I looked up this piece from 2012, which says almost precisely what I intended to say. When you’ve been writing a column covering foreign affairs for over twenty years, as I have, repetition is inevitable, but what follows captures my view of this holiday and its contemporary meaning so completely that I decided to give it to my readers, rather than attempt to replicate the same thoughts albeit in different words.

We might as well get rid of Memorial Day, for all the good it does us. Originally “Decoration Day,” the last Monday in May has been the designated time for us to remember the war dead and honor their sacrifice – while, perhaps, taking in the lessons of the many conflicts that have marked our history as a free nation. In line with the modern trend of universal trivialization, however, the holiday has been paganized to mark the beginning of summer, when we get out the barbecue grill and have the neighbors over for hamburgers and beer. As for contemplating the meaning of the day in the context of our current and recent wars, that is left to those few pundits who pay attention to foreign policy issues, or else to writers of paeans to the “Greatest Generation” – World War II being the only modern war our panegyrists deign to recall, since it is relatively untouched by the ravages of historical revisionism.

US Is Killing More Civilians in Syria Air War Than Assad Is

US Coalition Strikes Are Causing Soaring Casualties

by Jason Ditz, May 26, 2017

Exemplified by the hundred and some odd people they’ve killed in the last 48 hours, the US is struggling mightily with the narrative that they are taking extraordinary care to limit the number of civilian casualties in the air war in Syria, and are rapidly losing any pretense of a moral high ground.

Top NSA Whistleblower: “Every time there is a terrorist attack, what We really need to do is demand that they CUT the budgets of all the intelligence agencies”

Posted on December 3, 2015 by WashingtonsBlog

The highest-level NSA whistleblower in history – William Binney – the high-level NSA executive who created the agency’s mass surveillance program for digital information, 36-year NSA veteran widely regarded as a “legend” within the agency, who served as the senior technical director within the agency, and managed thousands of NSA employees – has a great suggestion for motivating U.S. intelligence agencies to prevent terrorism.

In his most recent Gold Videocast, Peter Schiff pointed out that Pres. Trump inherited an economic mess from Barack Obama. Even if he can manage to get his policies implemented in the midst of the political circus going on in D.C., it isn’t going to be enough to stop the downward economic spiral.

Yes, having Donald Trump president is better than having Hillary Clinton as president. But he is not a get out of jail free card for the economy… The problem is the damage is going to hit on Donald Trump’s watch. Barack Obama got out of Dodge just in time.”

Brandon Smith at Alt-Market.com agrees that the economy is due to take a plunge. He takes things a step further, asserting that Trump is just the scapegoat the central bankers have been waiting for. Now they can nudge up interest rates and blame the chaos caused by popping bubbles on the president specifically and Republican policies in general.

I have been warning since long before the election that Trump’s presidency would be the perfect vehicle for central banks and international financiers to divert blame for the economic crisis that would inevitably explode once the Fed moved firmly into interest rate hikes. Every indication since my initial prediction shows that this is the case… I continue to go one further than the mainstream media and say that the Trump administration is a giant cement shoe designed (deliberately) to drag conservatives and conservative principles down into the abyss as we are blamed by association for the financial calamity that will occur on Trump’s watch.”

This will work because most Americans don’t have even a basic understanding of economics. They dutifully accept what the mainstream media spoon feeds them. In the minds of many Americans, if the stock market is rising and unemployment is low, everything is great!

And hey! Stocks are soaring, right?

And yet there is a huge disconnect between stock market prices and economic reality. It’s clear that Fed policy has pumped up a massive stock market bubble. Analysis last year by Yahoo Finance showed 93% of the entire stock market move since 2008 was caused by Federal Reserve policy. But people don’t understand this. They turn on CNBC, see the stock markets rocketing upward, and assume the economy is great.

WhateverGate—The Crazed Quest to Find Some Reason (Any Reason!) to Dump Trump
JOHN DERBYSHIRE • MAY 20, 2017 • 2,300 WORDS •

One of Steve Sailer’s many clever commenters has brilliantly named it WhateverGate—the frantic legalistic churning about who said what to whom in President Trump’s circle, and whether the thing that was or was not said warrants impeachment. Or whatever. But impeachment. Every week, I think things can’t get any crazier—the hysteria has to burn itself out, the temperature can’t get any higher, the fever has to break—and every week it’s worse. Boy, they really want to get this guy. That just gives us more reasons to defend him.
