Side by Side or A Walk on the Far Side – You Decide

First we found the humorous look at authoritarians featured on Ludwig von Mises Institute’s marvelous site. Then we discovered what prompted the post on Ampersand’s left leaning site. And now we just cannot stop laughing at both of them. Do we find both of these so humourous because most of us recognize ourselves in both of them? Does that mean that we are somewhere in the mushy middle of America working to survive daily as we also strive to restore the republic? The art of relationships and healthy debate can be aided by humor if we let it. We hope you enjoy this little side by side or a walk on the far side. You decide.

Special thanks to Barry Deutsch for a delightful original graphic piece on Ampersand.

July 3, 2010 Dear Chairman Steele (via info@gop.com), Thank you for your recent remarks! Is July 2nd the Real Independence Day? Happy 4th Everyone!

The Declaration of Independence was approved/signed on July 4th, but it was two days earlier that the Continental Congress Passed the Lee Resolution, declaring that we were independent from Britain. This simple resolution was a stirring call to throw off the bonds of tyranny:

Self Organization Slime Molds and the Liberty Movement

I have been studying slime molds, the structure of Alcoholics Anonymous (AA) , Chaos Theory, open source software and the structure of the world wide web itself trying to grasp the nature of the phenomenon demonstrated by the Ron Paul inspired movement. I found that the common elements of it exist universally and the principles create many of the most durable organizations. The concept is new to me but this “emergent intelligence” is as old as it gets. From single celled independent organisms to great networks of people worldwide, a common theme appears. I may have stumbled upon the term to describe the quality that makes the aesthetically unappealing example of the slime mold uniquely successful. Chaordic

Oklahoma: Primary Filing Deadline Past Now Off to the Races

This week in Oklahoma candidates filed for primary slots for an election that will occur on July 27th. R3publicans have been working with many candidates for months now; working to restore the GOP to limited government, constitutional principles of a day gone by and sorely needed again. With filing past and the goal post just up ahead, it seems appropriate to profile some of the folks you will have an opportunity to help in the next few weeks (many of you are already doing so!).

Here are their banners with links to their websites and excerpts from their press releases this week:
Senator Randy Brogdon for Governor
Nathan Dahm for Congress CD01
Howard Houchen for Congress CD02
RJ Harris for Congress CD04
Mark Costello for Labor Commissioner
