beethoven-thanksgivinb-profile-wideThis week’s Music Monday is the third movement from Ludwig van Beethoven’s String Quartet in A minor, Op. 132. which he titled “Heiliger Dankgesang eines Genesenen an die Gottheit“, or “A Convalescent’s Holy Song of Thanksgiving to the Godhead“. Beethoven, completely deaf at the end of his life, wrote this piece after recovering from a serious illness.

From the OK Mozart International Music Festival:

Due to heat advisories, the Woolaroc Outdoor Concert moved
to Bartlesville Community Center

BARTLESVILLE, Okla. — After much deliberation with patrons, musicians and the board of directors, OK Mozart’s Executive Director Randy Thompson decided to move the Woolaroc Outdoor Concert on Friday, June 17 at 8 p.m. to the Bartlesville Community Center (BCC).  The decision was a difficult one but the safety of participants and musicians is of the utmost concern.  The BCC invites those who still wish to picnic in the heat to do so in the green space near the fountain on the property.  The food vendors, including Price’s Meat Market and Jeremy’s Sno Cones will be available as planned.

The concert is the festival’s best-seller with ticket sales outpacing several years’ past and will feature the Bartlesville Symphony Orchestra, Lauren Green, conductor with guest artists Caitlyn Caughell & Kennedy Caughell.  For information or questions, please call 918-336-9800.
