Today marks the beginning of our second annual membership drive. The bulk of the work we do is policy work that benefits us all: there is no customer and there is no fee. So the only revenue we receive, the revenue we need to fund our operations comes from our members. We need and appreciate your support.
And every donation helps. We grew our ranks in 2011 and look forward to growing more in 2012. As a result of your donations, our organization has managed to be at the forefront of several key liberty issues over the past year.
- The Public Utility Commission has opened a project to consider an smart meter opt-out for consumers largely as a result of our work.
- The House Land and Resource Management Committee and the Senate Natural Resources Committee will hold hearings later this summer to study the use (misuse) of eminent domain by pipelines in Texas largely as a result of our work.
- The House Ways and Means Committee has taken testimony and is continuing to study the possible full elimination of the property tax in Texas largely as a result of our work.
