Texas Bills Would Legalize Medical Marijuana Despite Federal Cannabis Prohibition

Missouri Bills Would Legalize Retail Sale of Raw Milk

The legislation would legalize the sale of “Grade A retail raw milk or cream” produced in Missouri at grocery stores, restaurants, soda fountains, or similar establishments, as long as the milk is clearly marked with a specified warning label. “Grade A retail raw milk or cream” is defined as “raw milk or cream produced upon dairy farms conforming to sanitation and bacteriological standards that meet or exceed those of Grade A pasteurized milk.”

Missouri Bill Would Create Foundation to End Unconstitutional National Guard Deployments

Titled the Defend the Guard Act, the legislation would prohibit the governor from releasing any unit or member of the Missouri National Guard into “active duty combat” unless Congress has passed an official declaration of war.

South Carolina Bills Would End Civil Asset Forfeiture, Opt State Out of Federal Program in Most Cases

Under current South Carolina forfeiture procedures, the state can take a person’s property without even charging them with a crime. The Institute for Justice gave South Carolina a D- grade for its current forfeiture laws, saying, “South Carolina’s civil forfeiture laws offer very little protection for property owners.”
