Financial Collapse: Can It Happen Here? If So, Then What?

There is an unfortunate tendency within human beings to deny the truth if it is too difficult to process. Politically this phenomenon is seen most frequently when people make the acknowledgment that it would be better to sweep incumbents out of office and start over with some “real people”. When it comes time to vote, [...]

Feeling Surprised & Betrayed By GOP Senate Votes On Food Safety Bill?

By Shelli Dawdy I wish I could say that I find the results of Tuesday’s Senate vote on S-510 a surprise, but I don’t. People have expressed shock that so many Republican Senators voted in favor of granting a lot more power to the FDA, spending $1.4 billion we cannot afford, and likely hurting smaller-sized [...]

Alternative to Virtual Strip Searches & Groping: How About PROFILING Terrorists & the Free Market?

As the revolt grows against the police-state type tactics now being employed at America’s airports, some alternatives to this insanity which have been proposed for years are now being heard during prime time on Fox News. The general tone on Bill O’Reilly’s show has shifted a great deal just since last week when he had [...]

Land of the Free, Home of the Brave OR a Nation of (Naked) Sheep?

“Somebody, somewhere, needs to shake us from this stupor of blind policy and blind obedience. I’m beginning to wonder if this isn’t some test — a test of just how stupid Americans are. If TSA said that from now on we had to hop on one foot while humming “God Bless America,” would we do [...]

Fortenberry Doesn’t Put YOUR Money Where His Mouth Is

In an interview conducted by the host of a local radio station just prior to the November 2nd election, now 4th term Congressman Jeff Fortenberry made several comments that deserve scrutiny. We’ve already discussed Fortenberry’s apparent back-pedaling, during that interview, from the Republicans’ commitment to the voters to repeal and replace the health reform law. [...]

Amendment 1 Smooths and Widens the Path to Fiscal Irresponsibility

The State of Nebraska already gets 40 percent of its operating funds from the federal government. But such money comes with strings attached. In return, the state relinquishes control over significant parts of its budget to the whims of federal bureaucrats. Now, ask yourself this question — Do you really think it’s wise to allow [...]

States Should Nullify the Entire ObamaCare Law

There’s a lot of confusion occurring over what’s being nullified by the “Freedom of Choice in Health Care Act” legislation that’s been introduced in over 30 states, and already enacted into law in Virginia, Idaho, Arizona, Georgia, Missouri, and Louisiana. This legislation has been based on model legislation developed by the American Legislative Exchange Council (ALEC) back in December 2008, over a year before ObamaCare finally became law. The confusion that has arisen is that the “Freedom of Choice” legislation is being referred to as nullification of ObamaCare, when strictly speaking it is only concerned with partial nullification of ObamaCare, because it would only nullify the Individual Mandate provision of ObamaCare which requires everyone to buy health insurance.

Ever Try To Pin Jello To The Wall?

I’ve been scratching my head for a long time now about something. A lot of people say they are sick of politicians. But most politicians seem to think we want politically correct double speak. In asking questions about principles and positions on issues, its like trying to pin jello to the wall. [originally published on: Aug 22, 2010]
