Virginia Senate Passes Bill to Establish Retail Marijuana Sales Despite Federal Prohibition

The legislation would establish a framework for the creation of a retail marijuana market in Virginia administered by the Virginia Cannabis Control Authority. Under the proposed law, retail marijuana sales would begin on Jan. 1, 2024. This is all illegal under current federal law.

Permitless Concealed Carry Bill Filed in Virginia

Forgotten Foundation: Patrick Henry and the Parson’s Cause

At just 27 years of age in 1763, Patrick Henry gained fame as a patriot for arguing that when even a king interfered with local lawmaking, he “degenerates into a Tyrant, and forfeits all right to his subjects’ obedience.” This set the stage for future opposition to the Stamp Act and serves as an early lesson in the power of resistance and nullification.

Now in Effect: Virginia Law Takes Another Step Toward Treating Gold and Silver as Money

Today, a law extending and expanding a sales tax exemption on the sale of gold and silver bullion and coins goes into effect. The exemption relieves some of the tax burdens on investors, and it also eliminates one barrier to using gold and silver in everyday transactions, a foundational step for people to undermine the Federal Reserve’s monopoly on money.
