It’s been outed at the BBC;
• [Peter] Sissons [“One of Britain’s most senior news broadcasters”] made headlines in January when he attacked the BBC for its “institutional” leftwing bias that he said was “written into its DNA.” Sissons, whose memoirs are being published in a series by the right-of-centre Daily Mail newspaper, said that at the BBC, “Islam must not be offended at any price, although Christians are fair game because they do nothing about it if they are offended.”
Clearly, those who show outrage and offense will be favored, while those who don’t are “fair game.” With such rules of engagement, can BBC and other mainstream media sources be trusted?
Anyone in the US media reading these words would surely cry out: “Not here! Not US!”
They’d be lying or blind, possibly both.
If you’re reading this I’m preaching to the choir, but I have family who take everything they see on the evening news as gospel, as I’m sure most of us do. They put too much faith IN the media, assuming that if what was purported to be true in fact wasn’t, or was slanted politically, somebody would call them out on it.
That’s where we come in. We call them on it. Speaking for myself, I don’t even have to get out of my chair; a quick grab for my laptop or iPhone and the truth is at hand.
“Remember what that talking head just said, and check this out.”
We even have a DVR for instant recall/replay.
We are the alternative media. We are the new media, and it’s up to US to get the word out and get it straight.
