The American Soldier…Since 1775
Since 1945, November 11 has been the day we honor all who’ve served in our armed forces. So, have you thanked a Veteran today? You officially all day tomorrow as well, since November 11 has fallen on a Sunday this year.
Whenever I do one of these kinds of articles, I do a little refresher on the history. I didn’t realize that November 11 is Veterans Day because it was on that date at the 11th hour in 1918 on which the official Armistice occurred, officially ending the hostilities of World War I.
In 1945, Armistice Day became Veterans Day, with the intention of honoring all who serve. Memorial Day is the day for honoring those who have died in combat.
