This letter was sent to Senator Johanns on November 12, 2012.
Dear Senator Johanns,
As I wrote you earlier, if the Republicans caved on the debt limit issue they would pay a price at election time. Well, the party leadership not only caved, they compounded their foolishness by agreeing to automatic future budget cuts that will be devastating to our national security, and abdicated their responsibilities by agreeing to allow the president to unilaterally raise the debt limit by their own inaction. Let me state clearly that pointing the finger of political blame at the president is no substitute for fulfilling their constitutional responsibilities.
So your party leadership persisted in this folly, and as I explained to you at that time would happen, conservatives stayed home on election day, Ron Paul supporters voted for third party candidates, the Senate and Presidency remain in Democrat party control.
Now, your party leadership is ready to double down on the same disastrous course. Is there nothing you can do to convince them to take their responsibilities seriously and say no to spending our national economy into oblivion?:

And by the way, the current narrative being circulated amongst party leaders is incorrect: Capitulating on amnesty for illegal immigrants will not solve these electoral woes; it will neither garner a larger share of the Hispanic vote, nor will it inspire conservatives to return to the voting booth in support of Republicans. What will help the party in future elections is for the leadership to stop trying to win the approval of the press and the political class, and focus instead on winning the confidence and approval of it’s own voters.
