Indiana House Democrats have apparently joined their Wisconsin brothers “on the lam.” They’ve fled their state to avoid voting on several bills their party characterizes as “anti-union”, including a bill that would make Indiana a “right to work” state. Right to work states do not require employees to join a union when their workplace is unionized, nor does state law require new hires to join or pay dues to a union representing the employees with which they will work. Nebraska is a “right to work” state, as are at least 21 other states, so this is far from a radical concept.
As reported by Indianapolis Star, “A source said Democrats are headed to Illinois, though it was possible some also might go to Kentucky. They need to go to a state with a Democratic governor to avoid being taken into police custody and returned to Indiana.”
On a related note, I just got a call from the bartender at the GiN Joint. He’s threatening to quit (again). From what I can gather, a bus that was parked in the lot sometime late last night or very early this morning is taking up some of the regulars’ parking spaces, and he’s getting tired of dealing with all their whining and complaining. Since the Joint opened, the bus passengers have been “parked” at a corner table nursing their drinks and staring off into space. One of those guys has apparently been playing this same song over and over on the jukebox:
Hmmmm. I wonder if . . . Nah! Can’t be.
Anyway, I told the bartender to calm down and suggested he add the following selections to the jukebox’s playlist. Variety IS the spice of life, you know.
