New Senate Bill Would Crack Down On Unpaid Parking Tickets

April 4, 2010– Cracking down on unpaid parking tickets — if a new Senate bill becomes law, delinquent drivers may have no choice but to pay up.

If passed, the bill would require drivers to pay off any outstanding tickets or warrants before being issued new license plates. It could also mean more revenue for tag agencies who say they could use it.

Currently, tag agencies have nothing to do with parking tickets. But if the bill passes, they would be given the power to collect fines and penalties on behalf of the city or county.

So, if you need a new tag, you would have to settle your debts before being given one.
