Oregon Marijuana Legalization Law Goes into Effect Today: Big Step Towards Nullification of Federal Prohibition

This week Oregon is taking a big step towards nullifying in practice a decades-long unconstitutional federal ban.

On July 1st, people 21 and older will be able to legally possess up to 8 ounces of marijuana in their home and up to 1 ounce of marijuana outside their home. They’ll also be able grow up to four plants on their own property. Retail sales are expected to begin sometime next year.

All of this is illegal under federal law.
