Third Florida Senate Committee Passes Bill to Prohibit Using Credit Card Information to Track Firearms Purchases

The legislation would prohibit a payment settlement entity, merchant acquiring entity, or a third-party settlement organization from assigning a merchant category code or otherwise classifying a merchant that is a seller of firearms or ammunition separately from general merchandise retailers or sporting goods retailers.

To the Governor: Kentucky Passes Bill to Ban Enforcement of Some Federal Gun Control, Including Pistol Brace Rule

the Kentucky Senate gave final approval to a bill that would ban state and local enforcement of any federal gun control enacted or implemented after Jan. 1, 2021. This includes the new ATF rule on pistol braces. Passage into law would take a step toward ending some federal acts that infringe on the right to keep and bear arms within the state.

Texas Bill Would End Civil Asset Forfeiture and Opt State Out of Federal Program

The legislation would replace the state’s civil asset forfeiture process with a criminal process requiring a criminal conviction before prosecutors could proceed with asset forfeiture in most cases.

Arkansas Bill Would Prohibit Credit Card Codes to Track Firearms Purchases

Titled the Second Amendment Financial Privacy Act, the proposed law would prohibit a financial institution or its agent from requiring or “assigning” a specific firearm or ammunition merchant code separately from general merchandise retailers or sporting goods retailers to any firearms business located in Arkansas.

Kansas Bill Would Make Gold and Silver Legal Tender in the State

Under the proposed law, “specie coins” issued by the U.S. government or any other specie that a court of competent jurisdiction designates would be legal tender in the state of Kansas and recognized as a medium of exchange for the payment of debts and taxes.
