Montana House Committee Passes “Sheriffs First” Bill

Under the proposed law, a federal employee who is not designated by Montana law as a Montana peace officer could not make an arrest, search, or seizure in the state without the written permission of the sheriff or a designee of the sheriff of the county in which the arrest, search, or seizure would occur.

Oklahoma House Committee Passes Bill Banning Enforcement of Future Federal Gun Control

The legislation would add some much-needed updates to a “Second Amendment Sanctuary” law enacted in 2021 that – in practice – created a sanctuary for absolutely nothing.

Rhode Island Bill Would Limit Warrantless Electronic Data Collection and Stingray Surveillance

Titled the “Electronic Information and Data Privacy Act,” the legislation would prohibit law enforcement agencies from obtaining “the location information, stored data, or transmitted data of an electronic device; or electronic information or data transmitted by the owner of the electronic information or data to a remote computing service provider” without a warrant based on probable cause.

March 1, 1781 – the Second Continental Congress put into effect the Articles of Confederation as the law of the land, making it the first Constitution for the United States. The Articles have been mostly thrown in the dustbin of history, but doing so skips over essential, foundational principles of the Founders and Old Revolutionaries.

Minnesota Bill Would Ban Facial Recognition Surveillance

Under the law, a government entity or official could not “obtain, retain, access, or use any face surveillance system or any information obtained from a face surveillance system; or enter into an agreement or arrangement with a private entity to obtain, retain, access, or use any face surveillance system or any information obtained from a face surveillance system.”
