Indiana Bill Would Take on Federal Gun Control; Past, Present, and Future

Titled the “Second Amendment Preservation Act,” (SAPA) the legislation would ban any entity or person, including any public officer or employee of the state and its political subdivisions, from enforcing any past, present or future federal “acts, laws, executive orders, administrative orders, court orders, rules, regulations, statutes, or ordinances” that infringe on the right to keep and bear arms.

New York Bill Would Prohibit Use of DNA ‘Phenotyping’ in Criminal Cases

Phenotyping is a process by which an individual’s DNA can be used to build a composite of a person’s likeness, and allows authorities to profile potential suspects with clues to hair and eye color, facial shape, skin color, sex, and more.

Retail Marijuana Sales Begin in Connecticut Despite Federal Cannabis Prohibition

As of today, adults 21 and over can buy up to .25 ounces of cannabis flower or its equivalent per transaction at licensed hybrid retailers licensed for medical and recreational sales. State regulators say those limits “will be reviewed over time, and are in place to ensure businesses are able to maintain adequate supply for both adult-use consumers and medical marijuana patients.”

Destroyer of Liberty: Consolidation

The founders considered consolidation one of the greatest threats to liberty. Both federalist and anti-federalist alike agreed on this political maxim, at least publicly. Their debate was mostly over whether the proposed constitution was creating such a centralized government – including warnings that a tendency towards it would lead to that result in the long run.

Missouri Bill Would Ban Release of Medical Marijuana Registry Information to Feds

The proposed law would make it a felony for a state agency or state employee to disclose any personally identifying information of persons who have applied for or obtained a qualifying medical marijuana patient identification card, patient cultivation identification card, or primary caregiver identification card to the federal government or any federal employee, or another unauthorized third party.

Mississippi Bill Would Take Step Toward Treating Gold and Silver as Money

The legislation would exempt from sales tax the sales of platinum, gold, and silver bullion that are valued solely upon their precious metal content, whether in coin or ingot form. This also includes numismatic coins that have a value of $1,000 or less, and numismatic coins sold at a national, statewide, or multi-county numismatic trade show.

Minnesota Bill Would Legalize Marijuana For Adult Use Despite Federal Prohibition

The bill would legalize cannabis by allowing adults 21 and older to purchase up to two ounces, and grow up to eight plants. Under the proposal, adults would also be able to possess two ounces in public and privately keep five pounds of cannabis at home.
