Germany will think twice before saving France next time

“The Franco-German axis that has driven EU affairs ever since Schuman and Adenauer in the early 1950s is collapsing before our eyes. This was inevitable. Their interests have become incompatible under monetary union. The currency that was supposed to bind them is turning them into enemies, as this newspaper long warned. The latest argument gaining traction – advanced by Prof Bernd Lücke and the German eurosceptic party AfD among others – is that the only way to save the Franco-German relationship and therefore the EU is to break up the euro before it does more damage. Interesting twist.” Continue reading

The Tenuous Nature of Borderless Money

“The G20 has fully endorsed the plan, and its implementation is complete or underway in member jurisdictions. The US is a G20 member, so don’t kid yourself into believing it can’t happen in America. It can and will. The Cyprus event has been carefully framed as an anomaly when in fact it is part of a well-orchestrated script. Americans are just one financial crisis away from triggering the provisions of the G20-backed FSB financial resolution regime. And that almost certainly will include restrictions on the movement of capital. Once your money is trapped inside the US, any type of concocted emergency ‘tax’ can be imposed on your wealth.” Continue reading

Boston Bombers’ Family Received $100,000 in Government Welfare

“We know that this sort of thing goes on. We know that the welfare state is now basic to American life. But bombers or not, this family has been openly ungrateful. They have had nothing good to say about America. But America is an equal opportunity welfare state. Those who hate the country are given the same handouts as those who love the country. What did the handouts buy the voters? Resentment. The younger brother was a stoner. He spent the taxpayers’ hard-earned money on marijuana. His older brother used the money to fly to Russia and then, somehow, get to Chechnya. How the Russian authorities missed that excursion remains an unanswered question.” Continue reading

Feds Threaten Medical Pot Dispensaries with 40-Year Sentences

“Landlords are receiving threatening letters from US Attorney Melinda Haag, warning of forty-year-prison sentences if landlords do not evict their dispensary tenants. In October 2011, Haag and three other US Attorneys declared war on California’s estimated $1.3 billion medical marijuana industry, threatening hundreds of landlords with forfeiture. Hundreds of dispensaries across the state moved or closed. Haag is attempting to seize Harborside Health Center in Oakland, as well as its sister club in San Jose. Last year, California Gov. Jerry Brown said California didn’t need ‘federal gendarmes’ kicking in the doors of lawful businesses.” Continue reading

Gun nights for ladies spring up at shooting ranges around the country

“In a growing trend, many of the pro-gun groups — like the ladies at The Fredericksburg Range — are all women, aiming, as Ovalle explains, ‘to teach a lady how to handle a gun safely.’ The ‘Shooting Divas’ group trains just a few miles away in Virginia, while ‘Gun Powder Gals’ is based in North Carolina and ‘A Girl and A Gun’ organizes some 40 groups around the country. And websites, magazines, merchandise — pink pistols and bra holsters — abound in the growing market. According to polling firm Gallup, 13 percent of women in the US owned a gun in 2005 compared to 23 percent in 2011.” Continue reading

A New “Global Standard” Takes Shape

“Financial privacy should not be viewed in a negative light, as it is often portrayed. The Swiss view it as a fundamental human right to preserve dignity, akin to medical privacy. How would you feel if the government snooped into your medical records and automatically shared those records with foreign governments? While it would appear the primary objective of this new ‘global standard’ is to rake in more money for bankrupt governments, it seems another motive is at play here. The optimistic estimate for FATCA is that it will bring in around $9 billion over 10 years or $900 million on average per year. It appears the primary motivation here is control.” Continue reading

Washington lawmakers quietly approve bill to re-criminalize some marijuana possession

“Lawmakers in the Washington House and Senate quietly passed a bill over the weekend that will re-criminalize some marijuana possession, reacting to warnings from the state’s crime lab that the current law could make it impossible to prosecute large-quantity possession charges or large-scale marijuana growing operations. The Senate passed the measure unanimously on Saturday, according to The Associated Press. The governor was expected to sign the bill as soon as Monday, but had not yet by early afternoon.” Continue reading

SWAT team sent to home of CNN’s Wolf Blitzer

“A message sent to police in Montgomery County, Virginia on Saturday caused a SWAT team to descend upon a home owned by CNN host Wolf Blitzer, under the impression that someone at the residence had just been shot. The report turned out to not be true, and Blitzer was not home at the time. Police were already suspicious of the message when they arrived on the scene, the Post noted, having received a text message sent through a phone provider’s emergency relay service. The case is yet another instance of the growing trend known as ‘swatting,’ where authorities are called to someone’s home under false pretenses.” Continue reading
