In London, the next wave of Bitcoin growth will be led by startups and innovation

"At Bitcoin London this week, it was clear that it would be the next wave of innovative startups that might be able to eventually move Bitcoin from an experimental currency into a more mainstream financial force in London. The event highlighted some of the bigger Bitcoin startups, which have launched exchanges or apps, as well as newer players, like a Bitcoin conversion machine maker, which is looking to install its first box in the Fall. Britons in general seem more keen on Bitcoin and, for those that have heard of the cyber currency, 40 percent of them trust Bitcoin as much as British sterling, according to a recent survey. That’s compared to 16 percent in the U.S." Continue reading

Gideon Gono is Not Disappointing Me

"I have just started reading former Zimbabwe central banker Gideon Gono's book, Zimababwe's Casino Economy. It is meeting my expectations. So far I have learned, he has four children, Passion, Prince, Pride and Praise. He has an undergraduate correspondence degree from Rapid Results College and in the book, he slams critics of his honorary PhD degree from the University of Zimbabwe. In a Krugman-would-be-proud fashion, Gono informs in the book, that toward the end of his reign as head of the central bank, inflation hit 231 million percent annually." Continue reading

Now They Tell Us: China Debt Levels ‘Unknown’

"A senior Chinese official said on Friday that the government did not know precisely know how much debt local governments had built up and warned that it could be more than previous estimates. Estimates of local government debt range from Standard Chartered's 15 percent of the country's GDP at end-2012 to Credit Suisse's 36 percent. Fitch put the figure at 25 percent when it downgraded China's sovereign debt rating in April. Vice Finance Minister Zhu Guangyao said China had not released official figures since a 2010 auditing report that put local government debt at 10.7 trillion yuan." Continue reading

Campaign to Salvage Central Banking

"LeBor himself rehearses the history of the BIS in this interview and points out how it probably should have been shut down several times. Certainly after World War II it should have been shut down because the leadership engaged in communication with Germany's wartime corporate cartels. These cartels were specifically assured that their profits would be protected if they cooperated with the BIS and other allied authorities. It was a secret deal that would have caused immense outrage in Britain and the US if publicized. It never was. The BIS is obviously more than the 'bank of banks.' It is a command-and-control mechanism for the entire globalist machinery of finance." Continue reading

US’s Man ElBaradei May Head Egypt

"So perhaps it will be ElBaradei after all ... He's been waiting in the wings and the failure of the Muslim Brotherhood's regime may now bring him to the fore. It also became clear to us over time that the West's surreptitious efforts in the Middle East were emplacing Islamic regimes. This became evident and obvious in Tunisia, The Ivory Coast, Libya, etc. But for whatever reason, Mohammed Mursi didn't work out. Now perhaps a technocrat will enter. ElBaradei is in favor of installing a US$5 billion IMF package, with its attendant austerity, according to this Reuters article. Was this the reason for Mursi's ouster? His lack of cooperation with the IMF?" Continue reading

Who is this that “Makes Nations Tremble”?

"Mr. Obama and his predecessor, George W. Bush, had gone to the Tanzanian capital to commemorate the 15th anniversary of a terrorist bombing at the U.S. embassy. Just hours later, his administration quietly ordered two European countries – France and Portugal – to deny access to their airspace to a plane carrying Bolivian President Evo Morales home from Russia. This was a hijacking – an act of official terrorism committed against an elected head of state of a country with which the US is not at war. The President who authorized it commands a nuclear arsenal and routinely kills innocent people through remote-controlled drones." Continue reading

Susan Rice for National Security Advisor?

"She and her husband have a net worth estimated at between $23.5 and $43.5 million. From October 1997 to January 2001, she was Bill Clinton's Assistant Secretary of State for African Affairs. She supported Washington's imperial Afghan and Iraq wars. She urged longterm occupation. She endorsed imperial war on Libya. She falsified claims about Gaddafi forces committing mass rapes. She ignored Western-enlisted death squad atrocities. She's been silent about them throughout Obama's war on Syria. She blames Assad for Western imperial crimes. She asked for UN authorization to wage war. She favors partnering with Israel against Iran." Continue reading

Why the BBC Fails to Care

"Over the past three years, 150 managers received a total of £25 million in severance payments – and 10 of the most senior executives accounted for more than £5 million of that sum. The report from the National Audit Office (NAO) into severance payments at the BBC scotched the myth that the Corporation had been contractually bound to make them. Over the past three years, 150 managers received a total of £25 million – and 10 of the most senior executives accounted for more than £5 million of that sum. The NAO said the BBC not only operated an excessively generous policy on severance payments, but had 'exceeded contractual requirements' in doing so." Continue reading

Michael Hastings and the Hillary Clinton Link

"Michael Hastings, who died in a fiery car crash, had more enemies than just General Stanley McChrystal, who was forced to resign because of a Hastings story. American Free Press reminds us: Hastings had a long list of powerful enemies. Hillary Clinton was reportedly infuriated by Hastings, who dug up the truth about what happened in Benghazi, Libya, contradicting Hillary’s and Obama’s official version. After Hastings asked too many hard-hitting questions, Hillary’s personal spokesperson, Philippe Reines, sent Hastings an email, posted online on Sept. 24, 2012, which said: 'Have a good day. And by good day I mean [expletive deleted].'" Continue reading
