New lithium-ion battery design: 2,000 times more powerful, recharges 1,000 times faster

"Researchers at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign have developed a new lithium-ion battery technology that is 2,000 times more powerful than comparable batteries. According to the researchers, this is not simply an evolutionary step in battery tech, 'It’s a new enabling technology… it breaks the normal paradigms of energy sources. It’s allowing us to do different, new things.' In real-world use, this tech will probably be used to equip consumer devices with batteries that are much smaller and lighter — imagine a smartphone with a battery the thickness of a credit card, which can be recharged in a few seconds." When Terrorism Comes Home

"Several observers have pointed out the similarities between today's savage attack in London, where a British soldier was reportedly beheaded by two men shouting 'Allahu Akbar,' and the gruesome recent attack by US/UK-supported Free Syrian Army Commander Abu Sakkar, who cut out and devoured his Syrian Army soldier victim's heart. That US overt and covert support of the insurgency in Syria, including its radical and al-Qaeda affiliated elements, is a known fact. But we know that eventually these US-supported Islamist radicals with Western passports will come home -- and now we have a better idea of what might be in store for us when they do." The Grand Jury: An Affront to Liberty and a Political Prisoner Machine

"On Tuesday, May 21, 2013, anarchist lawyer and activist Gerald 'Jerry' Koch was taken into custody in New York City for refusing to testify before a grand jury regarding the 2008 Times Square Military Recruitment Center bombing. This is the second time Koch has been subpoenaed, after the government informed his lawyers that it was believed that he was at a bar in 2008 or 2009 where a patron indicated knowledge of who had committed the bombing. Koch, who has a record of defending Occupiers and activists, faces 18 months behind bars." Continue reading

Governor Kills Funding For Florida Snitch Program

"Florida Governor Rick Scott has killed funding for a controversial 'violence prevention program' in Florida which caused a public backlash after the Sheriff’s office in Palm Beach County encouraged people to report on their neighbors for anti-government rhetoric. The program would have created a 24 hour hotline via which citizens could report 'suspicious behavior,” prompting “a knock on the door and a referral to services' by specially trained deputies and mental health caseworkers. Palm Beach County Sheriff Ric Bradshaw stoked anger when he suggested the program would be used to target political free speech deemed potentially violent by authorities." Continue reading

New York Mall Kiosks Raided by Homeland Security for “Terrorism” Goods

"Some people still might be unaware of just how long the reach of Homeland Security has become. How about counterfeit goods as possible terrorism? That is what has been suggested fairly recently as DHS has begun to conduct an increasing number of raids in several states over the past few years aimed at rooting out this 'threat to our liberty and economy.' Operations such as 2012's 'Operation Fashion Faux Pas' was part of a six-month crackdown that closed 20 businesses. As the video below illustrates, hundreds of others have been swept up in similar raids, many of which began by scouring the Internet for key words and indicators of illegal activity." Over 7,700 Americans Have Been Arrested Protesting Big Banks

"While Wall Street has escaped prosecutions, thousands of Americans have been arrested in the course of protests against the banks. As of May 2013, that number is 7,736 — according to the website Occupy Arrests, which tracks arrests. On Monday, dozens of homeowners who have faced abuses by Big Banks rallied outside the Department of Justice (DOJ) in Washington, D.C. The demonstrators marched to the Department of Justice, where they rallied outside the main entrance. At that entrance, several police armed with pepper guns and other crowd control weapons at first pushed the demonstrators back, and began arresting several activists." Continue reading

After You Read This Kid’s Story, You’ll Think Twice About What You Post On Facebook.

"Meet Cameron D’Ambrosio. He’s 18 and lives in a small town outside Boston. He wants to be a rapper and calls himself 'Cammy Dee' in his YouTube videos. He’s been locked up without bail for weeks — facing terrorism charges and 20 years in prison — all for something he posted on Facebook. On May 1st, Cam was skipping school and messing around online. Watch As City Changes Parking Signs Then Issues Tickets To Cars That Had Been Parked Legally

"Once you find a spot and check all the signs, you should be good, right? Not if the city comes by and changes the signs on you. CBS 2 in New York has security camera footage of this exact thing happening outside of a Manhattan building recently. Cars parked along one side of the street shown in the video are parked legally when the video begins. But as you can see on the video, a city employee comes in and installs a new No Standing Anytime sign. And within 25 minutes of that sign going up, a parking enforcement officer is swooping in to issue tickets — $115 each — to cars that had been legally parked before the sign was changed."
