Teen arrested for using app to “shoot” his classmates with a cellphone

"Police arrested a 15-year-old high-schooler Thursday in Louisiana for 'terrorizing' his classmates with a phone app that edits video to make them appear as though they are being gunned down. Terrebonne Parish sheriff’s Capt. Dawn Foret told the Lafourche Daily Comet that the H.L. Bourgeois High School student, used a phone app called 'The Real Strike' to superimpose video game style guns on video from an iPhone and similar devices. The app allows a user to virtually 'shoot' things in front of the camera. The boy is charged with terrorizing and interfering in the operation of a school." Continue reading

NYPD shoot at man with finger gun, hit elderly woman with walker, others

"Two bystanders were shot by New York police officers who were trying to subdue what NYPD Commissioner Ray Kelly called 'an emotionally disturbed man.' 'This individual was blocking traffic and appeared to be attempting to be hit by cars when a police officer on foot patrol attempted to take him into custody in the intersection,' Com. Kelly said. At that time, according to a witness who spoke toThe Daily News, the unidentified man started 'pretending that he had a gun' and 'aimed it at the cops.' The cops fired three shots, none of which hit the suspect. However, an unidentified 54-year-old woman in a walker was struck in the right leg, and a 35-year-old woman was grazed in the buttocks." Legal loophole allows new belt-fed AR-15 that sprays bullets

"A new belt-fed AR-15 military-style assault rifle can fire rounds as fast as fully-automatic machine guns — and the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF) says that a legal loophole means that the gun is perfectly legal in the United States. CNN reported this week that Texas-based Slide Fire’s new SFS BFR semiautomatic rifle would be available this fall for $6,000. The weapon can potentially hold thousands of rounds of ammunition because it is fed by a belt instead of a traditional magazine. And according to Shooting Times, the company’s special stock uses the rifle’s recoil to trigger the next round, resulting in a possible fire rate of 800 rounds per minute." Continue reading

Obama waives anti-terrorism provisions to arm Syrian rebels

"The Obama administration waived provisions of a federal law which ban the supply of weapons and money to terrorists. The move is opening doors to supplying Syrian opposition with protection from chemical weapons. The Arms Export Control Act (AECA) allows the US president to waive provisions in Sections 40 and 40A, which forbid providing munitions, credit and licenses to countries supporting acts of terrorism. But those prohibitions can be waived 'if the President determines that the transaction is essential to the national security interests of the United States.'" Continue reading

High School AP History Book Rewrites 2nd Amendment

"Guyer High School (and obviously several others) are complicit in attempting to condition students to interpret the 2nd Amendment in a clearly opposite manner in which it was intended. This textbook, currently being used by Guyer High School, is attempting to redefine the Second Amendment to impressionable young minds. Parents, you must speak up and demand action. Investigate your child’s history book ASAP, and post more pictures in the comments below. Call your school and demand that revisionist history books like this are removed from the school district." Illinois Supremes issue major affirmation of 2nd Amendment

"The Illinois Supreme Court today ruled unanimously that a section of state gun law violated the constitutional right to keep and bear arms, and affirmed that this right extends outside the home. The ruling constitutes another victory for gun rights in a state that was, until the ruling by the Seventh Circuit Court of Appeals in SAF’s Moore v. Madigan case, the last holdout on concealed carry. The federal court had given Illinois lawmakers 180 days to fix it, and many were dragged kicking and screaming into adopting carry statute earlier this summer. The case of Illinois v. Alberto Aguilar challenged a section of the law that prohibited carrying firearms outside the home." Continue reading

Health Insurance Premiums Continue To Rise Under Obamacare

"Yesterday the Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) released a report that claims to highlight how Obamacare is working for Americans—but in reality, it actually shows how the law has fallen short of candidate Obama’s promises. If a picture is worth a thousand words, then one chart in the report tells the tale. Figure 3 of the HHS report (below) highlights what happened when insurers requested to increase premiums by more than 10 percent—triggering a new rate review process established under Obamacare. While some of these premium increases were modified or withdrawn, nearly three in five (57.8 percent) were approved 'unmodified' by regulators." Continue reading

Betcha This Government Is Learning To Fear Its Serfs

"Following their tremendous victory in ousting two of Colorado’s dictators, the Basic Freedom Defense Fund (BFDF) and Pueblo Freedoms and Rights (PFR) have drawn a bead on more tyrants. They’re 'polling all Colorado legislators to gauge their support for repealing the very gun laws at the heart of the recalls.' The tone of the questionnaire these folks are sending politicians is especially heartening: polite but insistent, courteous but commanding. From between the lines leaps the warning, 'Answer this, and do it before our deadline of Sept. 30, because if you don’t, we’ll eject you from your cushy position, too.' So refreshing to see taxpayers dictating to the leeches rather than the other way around! " Continue reading
