The Similarity Between American & Iranian Media

"Apparantly Iran's State TV photoshopped sleeves onto Michelle Obama's dress when she was busy propagandizing at the Oscars. How horrible, right? Blatant censorship. Perhaps the neocons are right...the 'force for good' must do battle with 'the axis of evil'. The 'force for good' must (with bombs and tanks) set those poor citizens free. Their government only portrays to them what their government wants them to see. Over on this side of the Earth, where 'the force for good' resides, we have 'freedom of the press' and tolerance." Some Breathing Room for Iran

"A recent letter from a bipartisan group of U.S. Senators to the presidents of the European Council and European Central Bank has shed light on the Iranian use of the European Central Bank’s Trans-European Automated Real-time Gross Settlement Express Transfer System—also known as Target 2. This allows Iran to convert Iranian rials into euros. With euros in hand, Iran has far more latitude to conduct foreign transactions than it otherwise could with their increasingly worthless currency. The Senators urged the European Central Bank to immediately block Iranian access to Target 2." Continue reading

US Plots Conquest of Venezuela in Wake of Chavez’ Death

"US corporate-financier funded think-tank, the American Enterprise Institute (AEI), declared in its 'post-Chávez checklist for US policymakers,' that the US must move quickly to reorganize Venezuela according to US interests. In reality, AEI is talking about dismantling entirely the obstacles that have prevented the US and the corporate-financier interests that direct it from installing a client regime and extracting entirely Venezuela's wealth. US military contractors and special forces had been caught operating in and around Venezuela. The US' intentions of provoking bloodshed and regime change in Venezuela stretch back as far as 2002." Obama promised to close Guantánamo. Instead, he’s made it worse.

"The 44-year-old British resident and father of four has spent over 11 years incarcerated at Guantánamo despite being cleared for release as early as 2007. To this day never charged with a crime, Aamer is just one of hundreds of detainees who remain imprisoned in Guantánamo. Despite running on an explicit campaign promise to shut down the island prison which has become a symbol of the abuses of the 'war on terror', President Obama has continued to preside over its operation. And by recent accounts, under his tenure, the conditions for prisoners there – from both a physical and legal standpoint – have become markedly worse." Continue reading

Uh Oh: “US is Deeply Concerned About Developments in the Ukraine”

"The US can't seem to stay out of anyone's business, including countries right on the border with Russia. Here's a statement issued by the US State Department: 'The United States is deeply concerned by recent steps taken in Ukraine to remove Members of Parliament from the Rada. We note with particular concern efforts to deprive Serhiy Vlasenko, a Member of Parliament and defense counsel for former Prime Minister Tymoshenko, of his seat in Parliament, his corresponding immunity from prosecution, and his right to travel outside Ukraine. These actions appear to be politically motivated due to his connection with Mrs. Tymoshenko.'" Continue reading

Statist, Warmongering Retired Generals

"Three retired generals from Nebraska are calling on state lawmakers to support an increase of $10 million per year for the Early Childhood Education Endowment Cash Fund as a necessary step to ensure that more young adults meet the basic qualifications for military service. 'Our military remains the strongest in the world, but I am very concerned about the reduced number of young men and women who can meet all of the qualifications required to serve in our Armed Forces,' said a General Cohen." Egyptian Austerity Seen as Inflation Goes Up Hard

"Egypt's policy, apparently, is to engineer a controlled devaluation and hope that the IMF will come to the rescue. In the meantime, Egypt's reserves are being depleted and a surge in oil or commodity prices would put the bank and the country as a whole deeper into insolvency. It is regularly taught that only enlightened central bank monetary control can lift nations out of financial crises but as the 21st century dawns, it increasingly seems that the reverse is true. Central banks fix the price of money and price-fixing inevitably fails. As a result, most central banks lurch from one crisis to another, participating first in sustained booms and then terrible busts." Continue reading

Air National Guard Member In Fatigues Spurs Michigan School Lockdown

"The man, who was not identified in reports, was apparently looking for the school guidance counselor sometime around 6AM to obtain a letter of recommendation, but an overnight custodian spotted him wandering the halls and called police on account of the man’s 'suspicious' nature. The call sparked an evacuation, a school lockdown and an investigation, although the man had already left the school. 'The school was placed on lockdown and buses filled with students were forced to wait at a nearby grocery store parking while police conducted their investigation,' My Fox Detroit reported." School Offers Counseling for Students Troubled by Pastry-Gun Incident

"if your children are 'troubled' by another kid biting a pastry into something that looks sort of like a gun and waving said pastry around, you have already failed as a parent. The two-day suspension indicates that the school considered this a 'Level 3' violation, but exactly what part of the Code was in play is not clear. The letter suggests Josh disrupted the class, but the reference to 'inappropriate gestures' involving food can only mean he was also charged with a pastry-based-weapons violation." Continue reading
