Jim Rogers: Neither Obama nor Romney Are Worth My Vote

"Rogers isn't an America basher but a citizen who feels apart from the economic policies pursued by his country. He casts a ballot for none of the above because he doesn't think President Obama or Mitt Romney can rebuild the nation's flagging economy. In terms of fiscal and all other policies, Rogers sees one major difference between the two candidates: 'One is from Boston and the other is from Chicago,' he states." Continue reading

Green Party Presidential Candidate Jill Stein Arrested Before Debate

"Green Party presidential candidate Jill Stein was arrested outside of Hofstra University on Tuesday after attempting to enter debate grounds. According to Stein's campaign press statement, Stein and running mate Cheri Honkala joined supporters outside the Hofstra campus at 2pm, where Stein declared, 'We are here to bring the courage of those excluded from our politics to this mock debate, this mockery of democracy.' When they started to walk onto the debate grounds, they were stopped by police officers, and then the two women sat down on the ground. Stein was arrested and as of early Tuesday evening was still in jail, charged with disorderly conduct." Continue reading

Nation Tunes In To See Which Sociopath More Likable This Time

"According to reports, millions of viewers across the country are expected to tune in to tonight’s town-hall-style presidential debate at Hofstra University in order to determine which complete and utter sociopath they find more likable this time around. The debate figures to be especially important for undecided voters, 91 percent of whom said in a pre-debate poll that they were still waiting for one sociopath to win them over with the perfect combination of superficial charm, deluded grandeur, and pathological lying." U.S. military judge: ‘Torture’ is not ‘relevant’ in Guantanamo cases

"Five alleged al-Qaeda conspirators accused of aiding the 9/11 hijackers all say they were tortured for years while in CIA custody, but sitting in a military courtroom on Monday, they all heard a judge insist that 'torture' is not 'relevant' to their cases. Critics of the Bush administration’s torture program have long argued that it could taint prosecutions with evidence obtained under duress, which is exactly what defense attorneys have argued on behalf of defendants Walid bin Attash, Mustafa Ahmad al-Hawsawi, Ramzi Binalshibh, Ali Abd al-Aziz Ali, and alleged 9/11 mastermind Khalid Sheikh Mohammed." Goldman Sachs Revenue More Than Doubles

"Being a crony capitalist bankster organization pays. Lose money? Get the Federal Reserve to print up $$$$ to bail you out. Make money? Divide it amongst the banksters. Goldman Sachs reported earnings of $1.5 billion, or $2.85 per share, compared with a loss of $428 million, or 84 cents per share, a year earlier. Net revenue rose 133 percent to $8.35 billion from $3.6 billion. Goldman also raised its quarterly dividend to 50 cents per share from 46 cents per share." Continue reading

Mitt Romney: The Great Deformer – David Stockman

"Having a trader’s facility for knowing when to hold ’em and when to fold ’em has virtually nothing to do with rectifying the massive fiscal hemorrhage and debt-burdened private economy before the American electorate. Indeed, the next president’s overriding task is restoring national solvency—an undertaking that will involve immense societywide pain, sacrifice, and denial and that will therefore require “fairness” as a defining principle. And that’s why heralding Romney’s record at Bain is so completely perverse. The record is actually all about the utter unfairness of windfall riches obtained under our anti-free market regime of bubble finance." Continue reading

Leaked Debate Agreement Shows Both Obama and Romney are Sniveling Cowards

"The 21-page memorandum of understanding that the Obama and Romney campaigns negotiated with the Commission on Presidential Debates establishing the rules governing this month's presidential and vice presidential face-offs shows that both campaigns are terrified at anything even remotely spontaneous happening. They aren't permitted to ask each other questions, propose pledges to each other, or walk outside a 'predesignated area.' And for the town-hall-style debate tomorrow night, the audience members posing questions aren't allowed to ask follow-ups (their mics will be cut off as soon as they get their questions out). Nor will moderator Candy Crowley." Continue reading

Watch: Helmet cam recording of jump from the edge of space

"Footage broadcast on Austrian television shows the first moments of daredevil Felix Baumgartner’s 128,000-foot descent to Earth. Baumgartner ascended to the dizzying height inside a capsule attached to an ultra-thin 55-story helium balloon. During the first moments of his jump, Baumgartner began to spin out of control due to the thin atmosphere. The space suit he was wearing was equipped with an emergency parachute that would deploy automatically if he experienced excessive G-force. Luckily, Baumgartner was able to regain control before the parachute automatically deployed and became the first man to reach supersonic speed in a free fall." Continue reading
