John Yoo’s Anti-Constitution Beliefs

"I have yet to read anything by law professor John Yoo that I do not strongly contest. This would not be worthy of mention except that he has occupied high and influential positions in the U.S. Department of Justice. His positions on torture, enemy combatants (Guantanamo), surveillance and presidential powers to make war, even if they have come under strong attack, had a lot of influence. Basically, if he had his way, the president would be an elected dictator who would not have to pay any attention to important parts of the Constitution and the Bill of Rights." Continue reading

6 Whopping Government Misstatements About NSA Spying

"Whistleblower Edward Snowden’s leaks about NSA spying have set off a fierce global debate about security and privacy in the internet age. The revelations of the United States performing mass surveillance on an international scale have also unleashed an avalanche of government misstatements aimed at defending, or even denying, the NSA’s dragnet surveillance. We’ve gone through them and picked out some of the biggest whoppers." Continue reading

Reid: ‘Anarchists have taken over’ in Congress

"Reid said Tea Party Republicans are preventing progress on an energy efficiency bill by offering amendments on ObamaCare and other unrelated issues. 'They’ve taken over the House and now they’ve taken over the Senate. People who don’t believe in government — and that’s what the Tea Party is all about — are winning, and that’s a shame.' Wait until Reid sees what it is like when the private property society advocates takeover and not just the anarchist-lite Tea Party-types. Then we start to get serious: no minimum wage laws, no taxes, no Department of Education or Enery, and an end to the Fed.....for starters." Continue reading

‘Legitimate Wiretapping’

"Russian spy agencies want easier access to all Skype conversations, notes Doug Valentine. Who can doubt the CIA, FBI, NSA, and the rest of the alphabet from Hell already have access from Bill Gates, the oligarch whose company Microsoft owns Skype? Now Bill wishes Obama could be even more of a dictator, adds Travis Holte, so the corporate state can crony-subsidize the plutocrats even more than it does now. And, Travis notes. Gates is openly anti-free market. His preferences should be enforced at the point of a government gun." Continue reading

7 Reasons Why the Public Is Right to Mistrust Obama on Syria

"1. What Iraq taught Americans -- what Vietnam taught before that -- is that Washington foreign-policy planners cannot accurately say beforehand just how long a war will last, how much it will cost, or how many Americans it might ultimately kill, even though many of them earnestly believe that their prognostication is accurate. They're asking us to believe their assurances about how limited the conflict will be, even though many of them got Iraq wrong on that same metric. They talk about intervention in Syria as if they know just what will happen. That's part of why they can't be trusted: their delusions of control." Continue reading

College Students Chase, Heckle David Petraeus on First Day of Class

"Petraeus was on the way to teaching his first class at CUNY’s honors college, entitled 'Are We on the Threshold of the North American Decade?' He took on the teaching gig as part of rehabilitating his image following an extramarital affair scandal that led to his resignation from the CIA. The students can be heard yelling 'War criminal!' at the retired military officer who played a key role in the 'counterinsurgency' strategy of the Iraq War. 'Every class, David!' the students shout, suggesting they plan to protest him on a weekly basis, before every lecture. 'Petraeus out of CUNY' and 'Fascist' were some of the other chants." American Banksterism Through the Ages

"The Bank of the United States 'ran into grave difficulties through mismanagement, speculation, and fraud.' -- James J. Kilpatrick, The Sovereign States; '[Henry Clay's] income from this business [general counsel to the Bank of the United States] apparently amounted to what he needed: three thousand dollars a year from the bank as chief counsel; more for appearing in specific cases; and a sizable amount of real estate in Ohio and Kentucky in addition to the cash . . . . When he resigned to become Secretary of State in 1825, he was pleased with his compensation.' --Maurice Baxter, Henry Clay and the American System" Continue reading

Treasury: $238b financial bailout ‘avoided catastrophe,’ only $3b outstanding

"The US Treasury said Wednesday the government’s massive response to the economic crisis five years ago paid off, avoiding a catastrophic breakdown of the financial system. In a report marking the anniversary of the bankruptcy of investment bank Lehman Brothers — which snowballed into the worst crisis since the 1930s — the Treasury defended deploying hundreds of billions of taxpayer dollars to save other banks, major financial institutions and auto companies. While the rescue effort required piling up government debt, it was necessary, said Treasury officials who briefed reporters." Continue reading

Mises’ Answer to Would-Be Conspirators: You Will Lose

"The heart, mind, and soul of Austrian school economics is this: the free market provides better information and better incentives to satisfy customers than any rival system can ever offer. Therefore, the free market will grow at the expense of central planning. The decentralized decisions of people with money -- decisions informed by market pricing -- will be more accurate than the centralized decisions of any committee. This is why I really do not pay a lot of attention to the Bilderberg, the Council on Foreign Relations, and the Trilateral Commission. Ultimately, they are going to lose, just as their British equivalents and predecessors lost, 1914-1945. The digital genie is out of the bottle." Continue reading

Luke Rudkowski Questions Larry Silverstein On WTC 7 [2011]

"There are so many unanswered questions about the days 9/11, and instead of making up theories and speculating, we go to the horses mouth to get answers. Sadly, the response we get from these questions only invites more speculation about what happened on 9/11." Continue reading
