Audacious Hack Exposes Bush Family Pix, E-Mail, Clinton Friendship

"The apparent hack of several e-mail accounts has exposed personal photos and sensitive correspondence from members of the Bush family. In a December 27 e-mail to his four siblings, Jeb Bush saluted his ailing father’s 'kindness and good nature' and pointed to 'how kind he was with President Clinton and he helped restore his sordid reputation. A very tough thing to do but with kindness, dad probably helped Bill Clinton than anything he himself has done.' In a December 26 e-mail to his siblings, George W. Bush's mention of 'bubba' is apparently a reference to Clinton, whom Bush has referred to as a 'brother' due to his close relationship with George H. W. Bush." Continue reading

White House Considering Top Female Treasury Official for Federal Reserve Post

"The White House is considering nominating the top woman at the Treasury, Lael Brainard, for one of the vacant seats at the Federal Reserve, amid criticism over the role of women in the administration, people familiar with the matter said, WaPo is reporting. Note this would not likely be the Fed chair position. In addition to naming a new chair for the Fed, as WaPo reports, Obama must fill as many as four open seats on the central bank’s board. Is this a bone thrown to women because it is going to be Summers as Fed chair nominee and not Yellen?" Continue reading

Carlyle Group Covers All Bases With a Bet on a Kennedy

"Carlyle-founder David Rubinstein has the Bush angle covered. Not only did Rubenstein show up at the White House for a 60th wedding anniversary party for George H.W. and Barbara Bush, but he gave the toast! Hillary Clinton is set to be the featured attraction at Carlyle Group’s investor conference that starts today in Washington D.C. NyPo reports: '[Carlyle managing director] Oliver Sarkozy, the boyfriend of Mary-Kate Olsen and half- brother of former French president Nicolas Sarkozy, is getting in bed with another political dynasty. He is hosting a reception in support of Massachusetts congressman Joseph P. Kennedy on Oct. 7 in Manhattan.'" Continue reading

The hustlers and parasites who make up Washington’s establishment

"Washington has always had a permanent establishment of politicians, lobbyists and journalists. But this class has exploded in size in recent decades, and has become more introspective and self-serving. The news media have produced a hydra of talking heads who are forever yelling at each other (debate) or pontificating about who is up and who is down (analysis). The lobbying industry has spent billions greasing the revolving door: in 2009 alone, special interests spent $3.47 billion lobbying the federal government. In 1974 3% of retiring policymakers became lobbyists. Now 50% of senators and 42% of congressmen do." Continue reading

Donald Trump’s D.C. Hotel Will Be Luxury Hotel With Bulletproof Windows

"Here's another sign that corrupt and crony Washington D.C. continues to grow, while much of the rest of the country stagnates. Donald Trump is about to build a hotel in Washington D.C. He is leasing the US Post Office building from the government. The hotel is sure to house some of the greatest power freaks the world has ever known. Twenty years ago, Trump would have never considered building in D.C. Power, as opposed to entrepreneurship, is sadly growing in this country. Two 3,000-square-foot Presidential suites will feature fireplaces, two-person showers and bulletproof windows." Continue reading

Paul Craig Roberts: Too Many Years Of Lies, From Mossadeq to 9/11

"On August 19, 1953, the democratically elected government of Iran was overthrown by a coup instigated by the US government. Sixty years after the event declassified CIA documents detail how the secret CIA operation overthrew a democratic government and imposed Washington’s puppet on the people of Iran. If 60 years is the time that must pass before Washington’s crimes can be acknowledged, the US government will admit the truth about September 11, 2001 on September 11, 2061. In 2013, on this 12th anniversary of 9/11, we only have 48 years to go before Washington admits the truth. Alas, the members of the 9/11 truth movement will not still be alive to receive their vindication." Continue reading

Kerry and McCain’s favorite Syria ‘expert’ fired for faking credentials

"A prominent pro-Syrian intervention expert, cited by both Sen. John McCain (R-AZ) and Sec. of State John Kerry, lied about her academic credentials and failed to disclose her ties to rebel groups in the embattled republic. An op-ed piece by O’Bagy published in the Wall Street Journal drew fire over O’Bagy’s failure to disclose her ties to rebel groups in Syria. After the article was published on Aug. 30, it came to light that she is affiliated with the Syrian Emergency Task Force, a lobbying group that facilitates contract negotiations involving the U.S. and British governments and other agencies which provide aid to Syrian rebels." Protesters gather in DC to demand no strike against Syria

"As Congress prepares to consider a proposal for airstrikes in Syria against the regime of Bashar al-Assad, public sentiment is tilted against the idea. Protesters gathered to make their objections felt in the nation's capital this weekend, calling into question President Barack Obama's case that action is necessary to maintain international law, deter other 'bad actors' and protect American credibility." On Syria (and all else), it’s ‘Us’ against ‘Them’

"The 'estimable' men arguing for war in both Houses and before them are not on the people’s side. Never will be. For they do not accept that a just government’s duty is to its own citizens first. We have a solemn [negative] duty not to violate the rights of foreigners everywhere to life, liberty and property. But we have no duty to uphold their rights. Why? Because the ostensible upholding of the negative rights of the world’s citizens involves compromising the negative liberties of Americans – our lives, our liberties and our livelihoods. By this imperative, Kerry, Hagel, Dempsey, Kinzinger, the senior Republican flake from Arizona, the junior Jeff Flake from the same state, will never abide." Continue reading

Dennis Rodman (& Russia) Promoting Global Peace

"Dennis Rodman has a road-map to peace: 'building trust and understanding through sport and cultural exchanges,' as he put it. It’s slow, laborious and precludes lobbing bombs at North Korea or depriving its poor, long-suffering people of contact with the world. Rodman says this about his frequent visits to Pyongyang: 'I know in time Americans will see I’m just trying to help us all get along and see eye to eye through basketball and with my friendship with Kim I know this will happen.' On the other hand, a woman of war has just issued forth in support of Barack Obama’s adventure in Syria. Hillary Clinton or Dennis Rodman for public office? I know what my choice would be."
