Judge Napolitano on Obama’s Drone Strike Policy: ‘This Is the Power Claimed by Kings and Tyrants’

"'It says 'any informed high-level U.S. government official can strip an American of his or her constitutional protections and order the killing of that American if the person is overseas, if it's difficult to arrest that person,' said Napolitano, explaining that the memo does not clearly define what 'imminent danger' to the United States means. 'This is the power claimed by kings and tyrants. This is about as un-American a power as one could imagine,' he said." Continue reading

Bill Bonner: Revolving Zombies

"The defining characteristic of a zombified system is the way it hands out its rewards. In an honest economy, people do their best. They work hard. They take their chances. Some prevail because they are productive. Others are just lucky. The chips fall where they may. But as the system is taken over by zombies, the chips fall where they are told to fall. Rather than to honest and efficient producers, the rewards go to those who curry favors." Continue reading

Ex-Treasury Secretary Geithner to Join Council on Foreign Relations

"The Council on Foreign Relations has just announced that former Treasury Secretary Timothy Geithner will join the Council on Foreign Relations later this month as a distinguished fellow. 'We are thrilled to welcome Tim back to the Council on Foreign Relations,' said CFR President Richard N. Haass. 'Both at Treasury and at the New York Federal Reserve, Tim was a tireless, creative, and responsible custodian of the public trust. His coming to CFR only strengthens our capacity to produce thoughtful analysis of issues at the intersection of economic, political, and strategic developments.'" Continue reading

Elite Description Problem – Why the System Needs a Full Explanation

"The reason to create the modern nation-state is because the top power elites hide behind it, controlling society and economics and their will via mercantilism, the secret exercise of public rule to abet private interests. Modern citizens work for THEM even though they don't realize it. And they are not supposed to realize it. If we project this nation-state rule far enough, we begin to see the emergence of true neo-feudalism where a tiny group of globally recognized leaders run the world." Continue reading

Geithner: Bernanke the Buddha of Central Bankers

"I am not going to say anything nice about Ben Bernanke, because when I do, it just encourages those who think that we’re too close and that I’ve compromised the independence of the Fed. [laughter] But he knows what I think. He’s a hero. He’s the Buddha of central bankers…but more active." Continue reading

Gov. Lawyer Invoved in the Prosecution of Rajaratnam and Gupta Leaves for Big Bucks Private Sector Gig

The powerful elitist law firm, Gibson Dunn & Crutcher, is expected to announce that Reed Brodsky will leave the United States attorney’s office in Manhattan to join the law firm as a partner in its white-collar criminal defense practice. Brodsky is most well known for his role in prosecuting hedge fund player Raj Rajaratnam for the non-crime of insider trading. Brodsky also led the prosecution of Rajat K. Gupta, the former Goldman Sachs director found guilty of leaking boardroom secrets to Rajaratnam. The two other prosecutors who tried Mr. Rajaratnam with Mr. Brodsky have already moved on to partnerships at corporate law firms." Continue reading

Ex-Sen. Ben Nelson Cashes in on his Obamacare Vote

"Sen. Ben Nelson delivered a crucial vote to pass Obamacare into law in 2009, and now he is cashing out of the Senate to make money off the organizations that benefitted from the legislation. Nelson's last day as a senator was Jan. 3, and on Jan. 22 he announced he had taken two jobs on K Street. Nelson's second K Street job, CEO of the National Association of Insurance Commissioners, might not even exist without Obamacare. Obamacare mentions the NAIC 18 times. Some provisions of the law basically delegate regulatory power to the NAIC. Now, with Ben Nelson on the payroll, the NAIC can be even more confident it will get its wishes." Continue reading

How Much of a Revolving Door Crony is the New Obama Appointee for Head of the SEC?

"White's current spin through the revolving door is not her first. As I reported, White has, 3 separate times, worked at the high-powered law firm, Debevoise & Plimpton. She split those gigs up with revolving door government jobs. Translation: Total establishment revolving door operative. The unprincipled crony left doesn't mind because, and this also seems to be lost on Taibbi, with Obama as president the crushing by White, in her new SEC position, will be focused on the non-connected. It won't be the banksters. White targets will be many of others the left will love to go after." Continue reading

Treasury Gets a Citibanker

"There was a time when you had to be successful on Wall Street to become secretary of the Treasury. Now along comes presidential nominee Jack Lew, whose only business credential is a stint at the most troubled too-big-to-fail bank. During the darkest days of the financial crisis Mr. Lew served as the chief operating officer of Citigroup's Alternative Investments unit (CAI). CAI no longer exists. At the end of Mr. Lew's first quarter on the job, the unit reported a $358 million loss. Things got much worse after that but Citi stopped breaking out CAI results in its earnings releases. The unit was eventually shuttered and many of its assets were sold." Continue reading
