“Gun Violence”: The “National Conversation” We Won’t Have

"According to Clarence Dupnik – the craven, dim-witted functionary who presides over the Pima County Sheriff’s Office – about fifty SWAT raids of the kind that led to the murder of Jose Guerena occur within his jurisdiction every year, which is shocking. In Baltimore County, Chief Johnson’s Einsatzgruppen conduct more than 120 attacks of that kind annually, which are among the 1,600 military assaults carried out in Maryland each year, a figure that is genuinely horrifying. Gun-related violence by government-licensed killers is ubiquitous – and it is also a forbidden subject in the 'national conversation' our rulers have orchestrated for their benefit." Journalists, Politicians Refuse to Post Lawn Sign saying “HOME IS PROUDLY GUN FREE”

"Since these reporters and editors did not consider it a violation of the privacy and safety of others to reveal which homes have guns and which homes don't, we went to see which of them would be willing to put a sign up publicly declaring their homes to be gun-free zones. While we didn't find any members of the media with the strength of their convictions, we did find quite a few guns, and some good explanations for why they might be necessary. Guns for Me, but not for Thee." Continue reading

Grandmother sues city, police department over flash grenade incident

"A 68-year-old Evansville woman, who was at home with her granddaughter last June when police in SWAT gear tossed in flash grenades into her home and forced their way inside to serve a warrant, has filed a lawsuit against the city and the Evansville Police Department. After damaging the house, handcuffing the woman and her granddaughter and seizing their computers and a cellphone in a search for evidence about threatening Internet posts, it was later determined that someone remotely accessed the home’s wireless Internet connection and the Milans were not involved." Harvard Meta-Study Indicates Fluoride Reduces Children’s IQ

"A recent report from the U.S. National Research Council (NRC 2006) concluded that adverse effects of high fluoride concentrations in drinking water may be of concern and that additional research is warranted. Findings from our meta-analyses of 27 studies published over 22 years suggest an inverse association between high fluoride exposure and children's intelligence. The results suggest that fluoride may be a developmental neurotoxicant that affects brain development at exposures much below those that can cause toxicity in adults. In conclusion, our results support the possibility of adverse effects of fluoride exposures on children's neurodevelopment." Continue reading

Still no list of Q4 2012 ex-Americans in the Federal Register

"If you, I, or any other U.S. person abroad fails to report some information to the U.S. government under Chapter 61, Subchapter A, Part II, Subpart A of the Internal Revenue Code, we might have to pay the U.S. government tens of thousands of dollars of fines, regardless of the actual underlying tax deficiency. If the U.S. government fails to report some information to us under the exact same Subpart, we get zip. So don’t get too excited when you hear that today’s Federal Register is missing something; after all, it’s only the ninth time in sixteen quarters that Timothy Franz Geithner has violated this single provision of the law of the land." This Week in Police Law Enforcement: What They Do When They Come For You

"The police chief in Connecticut's largest city [Bridgeport] has pulled three officers off the streets after a video was posted online showing them kicking and stomping on a man they had already subdued with a stun gun. In the video, a stun gun is heard being fired and a man falls to the ground at a park. Two officers stand over the motionless man and begin kicking him. A third officer drives up and attacks him." Cops who shot puppy come back, ticket owner after he contacts media

"Residents are also upset because the shooting occurred not far from a preschool, on a street where pedestrians including children could have been hurt. Police were writing a parking ticket for a van belonging to Al Phillips, so Phillips came out to move the vehicle. My little bull terrier followed me out,' Phillips explains. 'Then, all I hear is boom! Boom! Two shots. You shot the dog!' While FOX 32's Larry Yellen was interviewing the dog's owners, two police officers drove by the home. 90 minutes later, they came back, asked why Phillips why he had contacted the media and gave him a ticket for not keeping Colonel on a leash." Lawyer arrested for advising stranger of his constitutional rights awarded $43,000

"Lawyer Daniel Zettler says that during a boat race in 2011 in Salida, he shouted to a man who was being detained by officers, 'Don't forget your constitutional right to remain silent.' Zettler says one officer arrested him on a charge of obstructing a police officer. The Salida Municipal Court later dismissed the charge. Zettler had argued he had a First Amendment right to advise the detained man. Zettler's attorney David Lane says the settlement money was paid Wednesday." Continue reading

Nine current and former Philadelphia Traffic Court judges charged in probe

"Nine current and former Philadelphia Traffic Court judges were charged with conspiracy and fraud Thursday, capping a three-year FBI probe into what authorities said was rampant ticket-fixing and pervasive corruption on the bench. The charges, outlined in a 77-count indictment, described 'a well-understood conspiracy of silence' that created two distinct courts: one where typical citizens paid for their infractions, and a second where offenders with the right connections won acquittals or saw their fines or cases disappear."
