"During a recent interview with the local Fox affiliate, KTBC, Austin Police Association President Wayne Vincent issued what appeared to be a threat of violence against Antonio Buehler and the Peaceful Streets Project. This threat comes on the heels of the Peaceful Streets Project's public announcement that they would increase downtown patrols to record Officer Nathan Wagner while on duty. Lawmaker wants to make it legal to record conversations with the feds

"Citing recent scandals across the federal government, a Republican lawmaker is pushing a new bill that would make it legal for Americans to record most conversations they have with employees of federal agencies. Under current law, people are only able to lawfully record certain in-person conversations with IRS officials. But under Jenkins proposal, that law would be expanded to allow people to record both in-person and phone conversations with most agencies in the executive branch. School board members among 109 New Jerseyans faking income for free school meal program

"New Jersey state Comptroller Matthew Boxer announced on Wednesday that 109 public employees, spouses and family members will be prosecuted on fraud charges after a state investigation found they lied about their incomes to qualify for a free school lunch program. Boxer did not identify the employees, but mentioned that 40 of them worked for school districts, including six board members. The 109 cheaters hid a combined $13 million in underreported income to claim their children qualified for participation in the National School Lunch Program, which offers free or discounted breakfasts and lunches for children from lower-income families." Aide to man with Down syndrome killed by police in theater had warned police, report says

"Moments before off-duty Frederick County sheriff’s deputies tried to force a young man with Down syndrome out of a movie theater — a move that eventually led to his death —Robert Ethan Saylor’s 18-year-old aide warned them that he would 'freak out' if they touched him. 'Next thing I know, there are I think three or four cops holding Ethan, trying to put him in handcuffs,' the aide told authorities, according to documents from the Frederick County Sheriff’s Department obtained Monday by the Associated Press. "In 2011, 2,436 UK-based bankers earned in excess of €1m, down from 2,525 the previous year, according to a study by the European Banking Authority. The most senior bankers working in Britain took home on average €1.44m in 2011, down from €2.3m in 2010, highlighting the impact of the downturn in the financial services industry.In total, the country's highest paid financiers shared a salary and bonus pool in 2011 worth €3.51bn, down from €5.8bn in 2010.However, based on average pay levels, bankers in Spain earned the most, with earnings of €2.26m (£1.95m) in 2010 and €2.44m in 2011.
