Calling All Of Freedom’s Friends to NY State

"You'll recall that Mr. Wassell is the first victim the People's Democratic Republic of New York has persecuted under its anti-Constitutional SAFE Act. Let's be sure that Mr. Wassell doesn't confront the totalitarians all alone: make plans to attend this upcoming stage of his trial if at all possible -- more for your sake than his. The heroic Kurt Hofmann offers an excellent summary of this kangaroo-case in today's column. I appreciate his tactic of embarrassing New York's rulers by emphasizing Mr. Wassell's status as a wounded Marine -- something those of you spreading the word about Mr. Wassell may want to stress as well." 3D Printed Guns (Documentary)

"This is a story about the rapid evolution of a technology that has forced the American legal system to play catch up. Cody Wilson, a 24 year old University of Texas Law student, is an advocate for the open source production of firearms using 3D printing technology. This makes him a highly controversial figure on both sides of the gun control issue. MOTHERBOARD sat down with Cody in Austin, Texas to talk about the constitution, the legal system, and to watch him make and test-fire a 3D-printed gun." Continue reading

Resistance is Dangerous; Submission is Frequently Fatal

"In other words: If a cop seeks to abduct you without legal justification, you should submit in the serene confidence that your deprivation of liberty will be temporary and trivial. I have referred to this as the 'Rapist Doctrine,' since rapists and police officers are the only assailants whose victims are encouraged to submit. One hundred years after the New Mexico State Supreme Court published that ruling, the case of New Mexico resident Stephen Slevin demonstrates that this assurance is a cynical lie." Continue reading

Female Motorist Faces Down California Highway Patrol

"They threatened to arrest the woman numerous times as well as screamed at her in rage and made her get out of her vehicle and sit on the cement. They also were not familiar with CVC 40502(b). In addition, the cops did not like being filmed. Within literally 40 seconds of the supervisor arriving on the scene, the unhinged boy-in-blue lost complete control and began screaming at the woman in a fury. As the shortened-version video reveals, after detaining the driver for nearly 40 minutes while arguing, shouting at and threatening her, the two jackboot cops finally gave in and gave her the County Seat. That didn't have to be so difficult now, did it?" Continue reading

Feinstein’s Assault Weapons Bill: Dead on Arrival

"Feinstein is not just a liberal. She is a California liberal. She is a feminist California liberal. That is, she does not have a lick of political sense. Her bill is creating the biggest wave of gun buying we have seen in my lifetime. Across the nation, there is massive demand to buy guns. Every time Feinstein opens her mouth, another American who never thought of buying a gun heads for Walmart to buy a shotgun or some other weapon. Feinstein is the gun industry’s manna from heaven. Like manna in the wilderness, she keeps coming back every day." Continue reading

Mayor Bloomberg bankrolls $12 million gun control ad campaign

"New York mayor Michael Bloomberg is bankrolling a $12m advertising blitz in a bid to pressure Congress into adopted stricter gun controls. The television ads are set to run in 13 key states during the congressional recess and are aimed at influencing an upcoming Senate vote on gun reforms. Meanwhile public opinion appears to be wavering. In the immediate aftermath of the Connecticut school massacre, some 52% of Americans were found to be in favour of major restrictions on guns. According to a CNN/ORC poll released last week, that number had dropped to 43%." Continue reading

New York Cops Arrest Artist Who Posted Embarrassing ‘NYPD Drone’ Posters [2012]

"Back in mid-September, the NYPD (and the city of NY) was embarrassed by the work of an artist who managed to install 100 posters in pay phone kiosks that appeared to show the city was using armed drones to control crime. Last week, police finally arrested Essam Attia, the man they believe was at the center of the campaign. Mr. Attia has been charged with 56 counts of possession of a forged instrument — a fairly serious crime for someone who put up some posters that he claims were meant to spark a conversation about the troubling use of drones both domestically and abroad." Bloomberg on NYC drone program vs. street cameras: ‘What’s the difference?’

"New York City’s Mayor Michael Bloomberg said in an interview on Friday that the city may turn to the use of a drone program for public safety monitoring. According to CBS New York, the mayor believes that the thousands of surveillance cameras already mounted all around the city are not enough, but that a program of unmanned surveillance drones would not be a significant incursion into resident’s privacy. 'What’s the difference whether the drone is up in the air or on a building?' the mayor asked. 'I have trouble making the distinction.'" Continue reading
