"When sequestration was about to kick in, the Obama administration began a nearly across-the-board campaign to discuss the devastating impact the automatic cuts would have on agency operations. Furloughs, combined with hiring freezes, would disrupt the proper functioning of government, agency chiefs said, as fewer employees working fewer hours could not accomplish the same amount as a fully staffed workforce. Tennessee Republican tells girl her father has to be deported as tea party crowd cheers

"A Tennessee tea party Republican state legislator told a frightened little girl at a town hall meeting on Thursday in Murfreesboro, TN that laws are laws and that her undocumented father is going to have to be deported. According to ProgressivePopulist.org, 11-year-old Josie Molina told state Rep. Scott Desjarlais (R) that she has papers but her father does not. The tea party crowd whooped and applauded wildly as the little girl took her seat, head down. Progressive Populist reported that Josie Molina’s father is currently in the process of being deported and that the girl is seeing a child psychologist in order to cope with the stress and anxiety." "In May of last year, Los Angeles resident Veronica Cornejo called the Sheriff’s Office to report that her mentally ill brother was severely agitated and potentially dangerous to himself and his family. The department responded by sending three deputies to the residence, who broke into the home without warning, drew their firearms, and dragged all five members of the family outside. After Veronica began to cry and plead with the deputy not to beat her ailing father, he threw the man on top of his daughter and then all three deputies began to beat both of them. "A July Washington Post-ABC News poll — before the latest disclosures reported by The Post — found fully 70 percent of Democrats and 77 percent of Republicans said the NSA’s phone and Internet surveillance program intrudes on some Americans’ privacy rights. What’s more, Democrats and Republicans who did see intrusions were about equally likely to say they were 'not justified:' 51 and 52 percent respectively. Nearly six in 10 political independents who saw intrusions said they are unjustified. There was less partisan agreement in 2006, when news about the George W. "When Judge Shira A. Scheindlin, of Federal District Court in Manhattan, ruled on Monday that the city’s stop-and-frisk program was unconstitutional and ordered that police officers in certain precincts strap tiny cameras to their uniforms to record their dealings with the public, Mr. Bloomberg’s response was immediate and emphatic. 'It would be a nightmare,' he said.
