‘Thanks For Your Help, Sorry About The Drone’

“The US administration believes it can actually determine who is or is not a radical Islamist and kill those people by drone, leaving only smiling democrats ready to welcome Western NGOs to help them write a nice new constitution. It is a delusion. It has never worked yet.  It probably means the US is planning to enter a much more active phase in the conflict. In preparation for a US invasion of Syria, which will no doubt continue on into Iran, some of the more dangerous and difficult to control elements must be gotten rid of.” Continue reading via LRC blog https://www.lewrockwell.com/lrc-blog/thanks-for-your-help-sorry-about-the-drone-2/ ----- Summary via FreedomWatch

U.S. officials warn Pakistan risks sanctions over Iran pipeline

"Pakistan risks sparking US sanctions if it pursues its plans with Iran to build a $7.5 billion gas pipeline linking the two nations, a senior US official said in a renewed warning Monday. 'We have serious concerns, if this project actually goes forward, that the Iran Sanctions Act would be triggered,' State Department spokeswoman Victoria Nuland said. 'We’ve been straight up with the Pakistanis about these concerns.' Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad launched the construction of a much-delayed section of the gas pipeline with his Pakistani counterpart Asif Ali Zardari at a ceremony on the border of the two neighbors." UN: Human rights abuses increase in Iran in 2012

"Human rights violations in Iran spiralled in 2012, a United Nations monitor said Monday in a report spotlighting abuses including repression of freedom of speech, torture and secret executions. 'There has been an apparent increase in the degree of seriousness of human rights violations in the Islamic Republic of Iran,' Ahmed Shaheed said in his report to the UN Human Rights Council. Shaheed highlighted 'frequent and disconcerting' reports about 'punitive state action' against a number of groups, including the jailing of opposition politicians, journalists and human rights campaigners." The Similarity Between American & Iranian Media

"Apparantly Iran's State TV photoshopped sleeves onto Michelle Obama's dress when she was busy propagandizing at the Oscars. How horrible, right? Blatant censorship. Perhaps the neocons are right...the 'force for good' must do battle with 'the axis of evil'. The 'force for good' must (with bombs and tanks) set those poor citizens free. Their government only portrays to them what their government wants them to see. Over on this side of the Earth, where 'the force for good' resides, we have 'freedom of the press' and tolerance." Some Breathing Room for Iran

"A recent letter from a bipartisan group of U.S. Senators to the presidents of the European Council and European Central Bank has shed light on the Iranian use of the European Central Bank’s Trans-European Automated Real-time Gross Settlement Express Transfer System—also known as Target 2. This allows Iran to convert Iranian rials into euros. With euros in hand, Iran has far more latitude to conduct foreign transactions than it otherwise could with their increasingly worthless currency. The Senators urged the European Central Bank to immediately block Iranian access to Target 2." Continue reading

New sanctions on Iran introduced to Congress

"The bipartisan House bill would allow President Barack Obama to impose penalties on foreign entities that provide Iran with goods to help maintain its struggling economy. The Nuclear Iran Prevention Act of 2013 also would provide Obama with broader authority to target strategic imports, such as mining or power generating equipment that could help Iran with its nuclear program, which the West and Israel say is a front for weapons development. The bill would designate the Iranian Revolutionary Guard Corps as a foreign terrorist organization." Continue reading

‘Scary Stories’ About Iran’s Magnets Are (Again) Neo-Con Lies

"The Bulletin analysis is worth a read in its entirety as it calmly debunks Warrick's Albright-fueled scary story. It also makes the important point that of all the scores of possible uses for these magnets, Warrick's report chose only the most alarming and remote possibility. Further, as the always excellent MoA blog points out, according to David Albright's own paper on the issue of the Iranian magnets, these in question would not fit Iran's centrifuges anyway! Did Albright know when he passed the story to Warrick that it was bogus? The same propagandists who paved the way to war on Iraq are as busy as ever when it comes to Iran." Continue reading
