Feds Gone Wild? Sure. But What About NE Officials?

By Shelli Dawdy I’m a frustrated taxpayer. Very frustrated. Where’s the frustration coming from? Right here in Nebraska’s capital. As I’ve been looking at Nebraska’s budget, I’ve been very disappointed to realize just how many of those dollars come from the federal government. Recently, I shared two charts that quantify Nebraska’s revenue sources in graphic detail. [...]

WHO Cares What The UN Thinks? Not AZ Governor Brewer

On August 28, I published an article entitled “Obama Surrendering US Sovereignty To UN?“. I was hoping what appeared to be the unconstitutional subjection of the United States to review by an outside government would garner attention beyond that paid by the Heritage Foundation. I was not disappointed. Arizona Governor Jan Brewer definitely noticed. She [...]

Arizona Immigration Lawsuits & Nebraska Connections

When Government Fears The People

Thomas Jefferson made the astute observation: “When the people fear the government, there is tyranny. When the government fears the people, there is liberty.” Today, the problem with our government at all levels is that it has no fear of the people. In fact, it’s worse than that. Programs like SNAP are on the march to reversing those reforms.

NE Budget: Senators Hope Feds Will Bail Us Out

In late June, Speaker of the Nebraska Legislature, Mike Flood, convened an Ad Hoc Committee meeting that is part of the special LR 542 process to deal with the projected 2011 - 2013 budget shortfall. It seems as if our legislature is too eager to accept federal money and federal strings.

Obama Surrendering US Sovereignty To UN?

The Obama Administration recently submitted a report on the United States to the United Nation's Human Rights Council for the "Universal Periodic Review". Does the President have the authority to subject the United States to review of an outside entity? Is the President undermining our sovereignty?
