SWAT ‘automatic assault rifle’ stolen from New Orleans police car

"Deputies in Jefferson Parish says that an 'automatic assault rifle' and other SWAT gear was stolen from a New Orleans Police Department car over the weekend. A Wednesday statement from Sheriff’s office spokesperson Col. John Fortunato said that five vehicles were burglarized in the Audubon Oaks subdivision on Sunday morning before the Super Bowl. The officer 'allegedly broke a departmental Performance of Duty rule by leaving his equipment in the trunk of his vehicle,' according to NOPD spokesperson Remi Braden." Continue reading →

"Timothy Cannon surrendered after a gun fight with 10 Washington County cops, descending the stairs of his two-story Forest Grove home, his arms linked with those of his wife and daughter, according to court records. Lisa Cannon's account of the gunfire exchange between her husband, then a Hillsboro police officer, and Washington County law enforcement the night of Jan. 20 is detailed in an application for a search warrant filed in Washington County Circuit Court and released Monday. "Seven Los Angeles County sheriff's deputies have been notified that the department intends to fire them for belonging to a secret law enforcement clique that allegedly celebrated shootings and branded its members with matching tattoos, officials said. Criminalizing Criticism of the Police

"Dominic Ray Aguilar, a 37-year-old cab driver from Roseville, California, has been charged with making 'terroristic threats' against Police Officer John Moody, who shot 35-year-old Ernesto Duenez 11 times in the driveway of his home in June 2011. Duenez, who was suspected of violating his parole, was unarmed and exiting his pickup truck when Moody shot him. He tried to comply with Moody’s order to get down on the ground, but his foot was caught in a seat belt. On the Facebook page memorializing Duenez, Aguilar wrote: '50 rounds to your dome Moody.'"
