U.S. Has No Moral Standing to Condemn Assad

"Since 1945, the U.S. government has launched aggressive wars in violation of international law. It has tortured prisoners detained without charge. It has dropped atomic bombs on civilian centers, and used napalm, Agent Orange, depleted-uranium shells, and white phosphorus incendiary weapons. It has carpet bombed and firebombed cities. America’s unexploded landmines and cluster bombs still threaten the people of Vietnam and Cambodia. Today it inflicts suffering with Iranian economic sanctions — just as it did to the Iraqi people from 1990 to 2003. The Obama administration bankrolls Egypt’s military government, which massacred over a thousand street demonstrators." Continue reading

Obama administration hints it could act alone on Syria

"The United States hinted Thursday it could act alone to punish Syria for a chemical weapons attack. The Obama administration also denied that public skepticism dating to an Iraq war intelligence debacle was complicating its effort to justify possible military action against Syria. Obama, who came to power criticizing his predecessor George W. Bush’s go-it-alone approach on foreign policy, was confronted Thursday with a choice over whether to wait for allies or launch unilateral US action. Obama aides stress they envisage only 'limited' punitive action in Syria and dismiss comparisons with the US invasion of Iraq, which the president built his political career on opposing." How the IRS Violates Legal Tender Laws

"One would think that it is more costly to deal with non-cash methods of payment. In any case, the last time I checked, the Federal Reserve Notes in my wallet all still bore the notice, 'This note is legal tender for all debts public and private' This means that they cannot be refused by the creditor for repayment of a debt previously incurred–especially not for payment of taxes, which are the pre-eminent 'public debt.' While the IRS may not be strictly in violation of legal tender laws, because one can still use cash to pay at some IRS offices, its anti-cash policy is just another tactic in the Federal government’s relentless war to stamp out cash payments." McCain’s Next Stop: Guantanamo?

[May 2013] "First, it has emerged that the some of the individuals he met with in Syria are actually ruthless kidnappers, who snatched men, women, and children from a Lebanese bus. Second, McCain's Free Syrian Army in Aleppo have announced that they are merging with the US-designated terrorist group Jabhat al-Nusra, which is effectively a branch of al-Qaeda. Finally, McCain's Free Syrian Army are reported to have entered the Christian-populated al-Duvair village near Homs on May 27th and massacred the entire Christian civilian population of the village. Section 1021 of the infamous 2012 National Defense Authorization Act prescribes indefinite detention for: [..]" Continue reading

Will The US Really Condemn Terrorism in Syria?

[March 2013] "The US government's various reports on religious freedom are largely politicized affairs designed to demonize practices in countries out of favor and skip over abuses among its allies. One could hardly imagine a more direct attack on religious liberty than to set off a bomb in a building of religious worship. But this attack has been perpetrated by US allies in Syria, who have benefited recently from 3,000 tons of sophisticated weapons shipped in by the US government and paid for by paragons of religious tolerance such as Saudi Arabia." Has US ‘Red Line’ On Syria Been Crossed?

[March 2013] "Four days after House Intelligence Committee Chairman (and former FBI agent) Mike Rogers reiterated in the Washington Post that the US 'red line' for military intervention in Syria would be that government's use of chemical weapons, the US-allied opposition fighters have apparently used some sort of chemical device in Aleppo, killing at least 26, including 16 Syrian Army soldiers. Does the 'red line' count if it is the US allies using the weapons? In other words, does the US attack the Syrian government anyway now that the line has been crossed even though government troops and innocent civilians are the victims of the attack?" ‘King Would’ve Marched on Obama’

"Executive Director of the Black Agenda Report, Glen Ford, sits down with us to revisit Martin Luther King Jr.'s historic March on Washington August 28, 1963, and how the Obama administration addresses its 50th anniversary. Marching in the streets for the right to vote, protestors were greeted by police with tear gas and dogs. That demonstration, led by Doctor Martin Luther King, happened fifty years ago this week. Its most famous moment came with the delivery of MLK's 'I Have a Dream Speech.'" Continue reading

Our American Dream Has Become The World’s Nightmare.

"Shortly after the 2003 intervention into Iraq I remember viewing a TV interview with Noam Chomsky where he compared America's pre-emptive actions there with Nazi Germany's invasion of Poland in 1939. At the time I thought his language was over-the-top and quite disingenuous. America was not National Socialist Germany. But Chomsky was precisely and prophetically correct. Everything from the time of 9/11 has been propelling the United States into an authoritarian fascist state. Our American dream has become the world's nightmare. Where other nations once viewed us with emulation and envy, now it is with fear, loathing, and revulsion. We have become what our parents fought WWII against." Continue reading
