This Is What Winning Looks Like: My Afghanistan War Diary

"The US and British forces are preparing to leave Afghanistan for good (officially, by the end of 2014), and my time in the country over the last six years has convinced me that our legacy will be the exact opposite of what Allen posits—not a stable Afghanistan, but one at war with itself yet again. Here are a few encapsulated snapshots of what I’ve seen and what we’re leaving behind." Continue reading

Obama Pushes Nations Into World War 3

"The situation in Syria has always been a proxy war between the United States and Russia. But that all changed when Israel directly attacked a Russian missile depot, launching what amounts to a direct attack on the Russian forces. Russia ultimately called upon a ‘combat readiness’ drill following this attack. More than 160,000 Russian troops from across the nation met with naval ships, aerial bombers and fighters, and other assorted military wings in order to attain ‘immediate combat readiness’. And it was back during his appearance on the Jay Leno show, the part which was entirely ignored in the US, where Obama and Jay directly compared Putin to Hitler. That’s right, Hitler." U.S. spying still under shadow of Iraq intelligence failures

"In the run-up to the invasion of Iraq 10 years ago, the CIA and other intelligence services confidently asserted that Saddam Hussein’s regime had stockpiles of weapons of mass destruction. But it turned out the intelligence community was 'dead wrong in almost all of its pre-war judgments about Iraq’s weapons of mass destruction,' according to an official inquiry, the Silberman-Robb report. The spy services failed to collect solid information, botched their analysis and reached conclusions based on flawed assumptions instead of evidence, making it 'one of the most public — and most damaging — intelligence failures in recent American history,' the 2005 report said." Swiss Offshore-Adviser’s Guilty Plea Marks a Shift in Tax Crackdown

"On Aug. 16, Edgar Paltzer, 57 years old, a Swiss lawyer formerly with the Zurich firm of Niederer, Kraft & Frey, pleaded guilty in federal court in New York to a single count of conspiracy. Experts say Mr. Paltzer is the most prominent Swiss adviser to confess and the first to do so publicly. More than 30 advisers have been indicted in connection with allegedly enabling U.S. taxpayers to hide money abroad. The case puts further pressure on U.S. taxpayers holding secret offshore accounts, because advisers might opt to protect themselves by turning in their clients. The case also expands government scrutiny to assets stored in bank vaults." Continue reading

Financial Times Sees “Endless Cycle Of Bubble, Financial Crisis And Currency Collapse”

"It's funny: nearly five years ago, when we first started, and said that the world is doomed to an endless cycle of bubble, financial crisis and currency collapse as long as the Fed is around, most people laughed: after all they had very serious reputations aligned with a broken and terminally disintegrating economic lie. With time some came to agree with our viewpoint, but most of the very serious people continued to laugh. Fast forward to last night when we read, in that very bastion of very serious opinions, the Financial Times, the following sentence: 'The world is doomed to an endless cycle of bubble, financial crisis and currency collapse.'" 22 Reasons Why Starting World War 3 In The Middle East Is A Really Bad Idea

"Russia and China are sternly warning the U.S. government not to get involved in Syria, and by starting a war with Syria we will do an extraordinary amount of damage to our relationships with those two global superpowers. Could this be the beginning of a chain of events that could eventually lead to a massive global conflict with Russia and China on one side and the United States on the other? Of course it will not happen immediately, but I fear that what is happening now is setting the stage for some really bad things. The following are 22 reasons why starting World War 3 in the Middle East is a really bad idea." Continue reading

Michael Scheuer: Use the Constitution to prevent war with Syria

"Amidst the developing momentum for the U.S. to enter another war that will strengthen al-Qaeda and its allies — like the one Obama fought in Libya and the anti-democratic one in Egypt he authorized this month — perhaps it is worth reviewing three salient and crystal clear facts. –1st : The United States has no genuine national-security interests in Syria. –2nd: Unless America is attacked first, no U.S. president has the constitutional authority to take America to war without a formal declaration of war by Congress. –3rd : Today’s status quo in Syria benefits U.S. national-security interests without Washington having to take any action at all." Bill Kristol’s Empire of Death

"What do Bill Kristol's enterprises all have in common? They traffic in murder and mayhem worldwide. They provide well-paid sinecures to 'intellectuals' to argue the case for a permanent revolution to be fought by the US to the benefit of the military industrial complex. They are heavily subsidized by the mega-wealthy who have an international agenda that does not necessarily reflect US interests. They are oblivious to public opinion in the US and are impervious to market forces. Though purporting to advocate the spread of democracy worldwide, they are disdainful of majority opinion in the US, preferring to adhere to the Straussian view that the non-elites must be lied to continuously." Will The US Really Condemn Terrorism in Syria?

[March 2013] "The US government's various reports on religious freedom are largely politicized affairs designed to demonize practices in countries out of favor and skip over abuses among its allies. One could hardly imagine a more direct attack on religious liberty than to set off a bomb in a building of religious worship. But this attack has been perpetrated by US allies in Syria, who have benefited recently from 3,000 tons of sophisticated weapons shipped in by the US government and paid for by paragons of religious tolerance such as Saudi Arabia." US ‘Elects’ New Syrian Leader…A Guy From Dallas!

[March 2013] "In the name of democracy, the US government has supported a variety of armed opposition fighters in Syria seeking to overthrow that country's president, Bashar al-Assad, who according to a wide variety of information sources enjoys support from the majority of the Syrian people. So to promote democracy in Syria, the US government has taken it upon itself to choose a new leader for Syria. This democratic answer to Syria's problems lives in Dallas, TX, and was educated in Indiana. He has not set foot in the country he now 'rules' in more than thirty years. Also, he is an Islamist from the Muslim Brotherhood. That is what the US government calls 'democratic legitimacy.'" Continue reading
