This Public Preschool Looks Like a Prison

"The front entrance is card key secured, and a thick metal door attached to a gated metal security tunnel with a metal walkway leads back to a hallway of numbered, metal buildings. Every single window, including the little ones on the thick metal doors inside, have metal gratings bolted on the outside of them. It felt like I was walking through a medium security prison facility. Four-year-olds attend this campus. That means these little ones are spending the majority of their weekdays all day long inside this place." Continue reading

‘Pothole Robin Hood’ Steals Asphalt, Fixes Potholes, Faces Possible Charges

"A man dubbed the 'pothole Robin Hood' is under police investigation for taking asphalt from the city of Jackson, Miss., and filling in potholes on city streets. Ron Chane admits that he takes the asphalt and repairs potholes, and then signs the filled-in holes with the message 'citizen fixed,' he told ABC News. 'It’s sort of like Robin Hood. Once we saw that people were appreciating what we did, we went out again and made a goal of fixing 100 potholes. We’ve actually filled 101 potholes, so our mission has been completed,' Chane said. The Jackson Police Department is looking into how Chane got the asphalt and has not yet made a decision about pressing charges." Continue reading

Ten Police Officers Arrest Two Obama Impeachment Sign Wavers

"Survival Doc (the videographer) and Mark M. are arrested for not obeying an officer and Mark was also charged with resisting arrest. Did he resist arrest? You be the judge. Oh, and they never read us our Miranda Rights. We spent 24 hours in the St. Charles Count Jail with Missouri Hwy Trooper Jenkins acting as judge, jury and executioner." Continue reading

One By One, California Agents Track Down Illegally Owned Guns

"In a recent operation, a caravan of four unmarked trucks traversed the bedroom communities of San Francisco's East Bay. The trucks carry nine state agents wearing bulletproof vests and armed with .40-caliber Glock pistols and Tasers. They'll spend the next six hours looking for illegal guns, explains Special Agent Kisu Yo of the California Department of Justice. Beginning In 2007, California officials began collecting names from court records, medical facilities and lists of known or wanted criminals, then cross-referenced them against the federal instant criminal background check system for gun-buyers. The list is updated every day." Continue reading

Dick Bove: US Assault on JPMorgan Is ‘Coordinated from Above’

"The various government legal moves against JPMorgan Chase represent a coordinated assault on the nation's biggest bank, says star bank analyst Dick Bove at Rafferty Capital Markets. Given that eight government agencies are now suing JPMorgan over various issues, apparently including four to six lawsuits from the Justice Department: 'What is it about this company which makes it unique relative to all other American companies, that all of these agencies come down on this company at the same point in time?' Bove said. 'This has to be coordinated by someone, and it has to be coordinated by someone above each one of the individual agencies.'" Continue reading

Health Insurance Costs: $16,351 a Year per Family

"This is what the typical premium costs for families whose health insurance is paid for by their employers. The main advantage is that this is not taxable income. For workers whose employers provide health insurance coverage, this is a huge tax loophole. Here is a chart on what it costs families. The costs have skyrocketed over the last decade. Health insurance is regulated heavily by state governments and the federal government. Costs are rising relentlessly. ObamaCare will make them rise even more. When the government comes to help you, beware. 'Keep your hand upon your wallet, and your back against the wall.'" Continue reading

Los Angeles City College Trustees Ban the Word “Gun” From Course Catalog

"If a book has the word gun in it, the book is not subject to the ban, but no mention of it must appear in the catalog. Otherwise, it would give the wrong idea. Scott Svonkin, the Vice President of the Board of Trustees, introduced the ban. He explained his position. The school must not teach students how to use guns. The faculty must promote gun control. 'We should make sure that students don’t come to campus being afraid to run into somebody with a gun.' The ban includes non-operational guns. They scare students. When asked what a non-operational gun is, he said he had no idea. 'I’m not an expert in guns,' he explained." Continue reading

School Has Become Too Hostile to Boys

"As school begins in the coming weeks, parents of boys should ask themselves a question: Is my son really welcome? A flurry of incidents last spring suggests that the answer is no. In all these cases, school officials found the children to be in violation of the school’s zero-tolerance policies for firearms, which is clearly a ludicrous application of the rule. But common sense isn’t the only thing at stake here. In the name of zero tolerance, our schools are becoming hostile environments for young boys. As our schools become more risk averse, the gender gap favoring girls is threatening to become a chasm." Continue reading

Bill Bonner: The world’s fattest army

"Yes, dear reader, times have changed. But humans have not. Give them the opportunity, and they will turn into zombies. The late Colonel John Boyd of the US Air Force, observed that, 'It is not true the Pentagon has no strategy. It has a strategy, and once you understand what that strategy is, everything the Pentagon does makes sense. The strategy is, don’t interrupt the money flow, add to it.' Boyd was a strategist. He observed that wars were won by lean and agile fighters, who were able to improvise and innovate quickly as needs and opportunities arose. Bureaucracy does not support such warriors; it tries to get rid of them." Continue reading
