Wisconsin Education Officials Want Students to Wear ‘White Privilege’ Wristbands

"The program’s approach becomes a bit suspect when one reads the Gloria Steinem quote on the top of its webpage: 'The first problem for all of us, men and women, is not to learn, but to unlearn.' The webpage also offers a series of suggestions for high schools students to become more racially sensitive. They include: Wear a white wristband as a reminder about your privilege, and as a personal commitment to explain why you wear the wristband. Set aside sections of the day to critically examine how privilege is working. Put a note on your mirror or computer screen as a reminder to think about privilege." Continue reading

Dodgeball now banned in public schools as nanny state goes insane

"The nanny state mentality is becoming more institutionalized in America as evidenced by the recent decision to ban the age-old gym class game of 'Dodgeball' in one New Hampshire school - though trust me, others will follow suit. In an incredible four to one decision, the five-member school board panel at Windham School voted to ban the 'classic gym class game' which 'has been a rite of passage for years' for kids - not to mention a whole lot of fun - according to CBSBoston." Bottled Water Nazis and Big Beverage

"Opposition to bottled water seem to be the trend nowadays, in order to prove one's devotion to the environment. Just recently, Concord, MA banned the sale of single-serving water bottles from vending machines, restaurants, and stores. True, bottled water sales are up, and it should be celebrated that the sugar-addicted masses are turning away from the poisons churned out by Big Beverage and they are instead going back to drinking life-sustaining, healthy water. Why is it that the bottled water haters aren't raging against the commercial beverages that line the shelves of every store and gas station and vending machine in America, in the same eco-unfriendly plastic bottles?" Here Come the Salt Police!

"Medical researchers at Harvard University have released a report which says that Americans eat too much salt. This is a follow-up report on an earlier report by the same team, authored by the same man with the unpronounceable name, which concluded that Americans eat too much sugar. The author of the report, predictably, called for the federal government to enact legislation to limit the intake of salt in processed foods. In other words, he wants to turn the federal government into the equivalent of Nanny Bloomberg. He doesn’t like sugar. He doesn’t like salt. And, most of all, he doesn’t like liberty." Without a Shot

"On January 16, 2013, President Obama released 23 'Gun Violence Reduction Executive Actions' of which Action #2, #14, #16, #17, #21, and #22 utilize the national healthcare system to collect gun ownership information. As Obamacare grows over the next decade, unwary citizens will voluntarily divulge firearm ownership information including serial numbers in exchange for routine healthcare. Through the power of incrementalism, placing this information in a federal database seems harmless at first. However, someday in the future, imagine a loved one in your care needing critical medical attention, so you rush into an Obamacare facility because no other option exists." Continue reading

Health Insurance Under Obamacare: “The More You Make The More You’ll Pay”

"A friend familiar with the industry emails and points me to a summary at the NOLO legal encyclopedia that explains how healthcare insurance premiums are going to become income based. My friend concludes: This is the provision that I was told about by somebody who works at Blue Cross, but the government and even the media has been keeping very mum about it…. One provision not mentioned in this article is about the grandfathering of current plans back to sometime in 2010, where if you have had the same policy since then you won’t be charged based on income." Which Nation Has the Most Per-Capita Government Spending on Healthcare?

"Is it Canada or the United Kingdom, which are famous (or, if these stories are any indication, infamous would be a better description) for single-payer healthcare systems? Is it Sweden, the home of the cradle-to-grave welfare state? Or France, the land of the world’s most statist people? How about Italy or Greece, nations that have spent themselves into fiscal crisis? Nope, nope, nope, and nope. The United States spends more money, on a per-capita basis, than any of those countries." Continue reading

Federal judge strikes down Missouri’s Obamacare birth control coverage exemption

"A federal judge has struck down a Missouri law exempting moral objectors from mandatory birth control coverage because it conflicts with an insurance requirement under President Barrack Obama’s health care law. Some backers of Missouri’s law said the court ruling could result in churches and other religious organizations having to accept insurance policies that include contraception coverage. The Missouri law requires insurers to issue policies without contraception coverage if individuals or employers assert that the use of birth control violates their 'moral, ethical or religious beliefs.'"
