LAPD takes another step toward deploying drones domestically

"Advocates say camera-mounted drones could help protect officers and others by collecting crucial information during high-risk situations or searches without jeopardizing their safety. For many privacy advocates and police critics, however, the drones stir Orwellian visions of unwarranted surveillance or fears of militarized, weapon-toting devices patrolling the skies. LAPD brass, along with police commissioners, tried to ease those concerns last fall by promising careful restrictions on when the drones would be used, and strong oversight of the pilot program."

Teacher arrested for bringing up admin salary at school board meeting

"The video then shows the woman on the floor in the hallway, where she is being handcuffed behind the back by the marshal. The marshal asks the teacher to 'stop resisting' and escorts her from the building. Outside the building, the marshal tells her she is being arrested for refusing to leave and resisting arrest. Fontana, the board president, told NBC News that Hargrave had violated meeting policies, by taking up extra time and asking questions during a public comment section."

California’s War on Guns Broadens to a War on Ammunition

"California’s war on guns will soon broaden to a war on ammunition as a ban on the possession of bullets purchased out-of-state takes effect January 1, 2018. According to the Sacramento Bee, it will also be illegal 'to transfer or buy ammo' from anyone other than a licensed dealer within the state, beginning January 1. California residents can order ammunition from a catalog as long as they have that ammunition shipped to a licensed dealer for pickup. The dealer will then add a 'processing fee' to the cost of the ammunition."

CA “Heroes” Beat Motorist Over Tinted Windows, “Missing” Front Plate

"In Pasadena, CA some 'heroes' (aka, law enforcers) noticed a motorist driving a car with windows that were tinted 'too much' and which was missing its front license plate. These are heinous offenses against the peace, you see. Can’t that let that go. A stop was initiated. Which quickly led to a violent beat down of the unarmed, unresisting motorist."

Police Chief Arrested After Soliciting Cop Posing Online As 14-Year-Old

"A Pennsylvania police chief—who gained widespread attention after losing his arm in a summer fireworks accident—was arrested after soliciting sex from a teenage girl during an online sting. Forty-year-old Chief Mike Diebold is being charged with two felonies: unlawful contact with a minor and criminal attempt to involuntary deviate sexual intercourse, WPXI, an NBC-affiliate in Pittsburgh reported. Diebold reportedly sent inappropriate photos through an online messaging app while soliciting sexual contact, under the name 'KuteCop4You'. Little did he know, he was in contact with a fellow police officer - albeit undercover."
