Global War on Terror (GWOT) Was a Hopeless Blunder from the Get-Go

"The American public needs to turn against the GWOT. The press and intellectuals need to do far more homework. They need to dig out and read criticisms like these. They need to be more critical of government failures to alter its policies. Many brains were put in cold storage because of the emotional impact of 9/11. They need to be resuscitated. The time for emotion is over. The GWOT was a hasty, ill-conceived response to 9/11. The press and public need a strong dose of honesty about past blunders. The press and public need to stop paying attention to the fanatic warmongers, hatemongers and partisans of Israel and militarism." Continue reading

Julian Assange: The Modern State Is Acting Like A Mongol Horde

"What is happening to the world now is not some Henry Kissinger-esque figure making secret plots...That happens a little bit, and those people like to think that they're in charge. But it seems to me that what is actually going on is a pretty much out of control bureaucracy involving The State and Big Corporations, the National Security Agency now. Eighty-percent of its budget goes to Booz Allen Hamilton, Lockheed Martin... I liken it to a Mongul horde. Yeah, there are some people trying to be in charge of it in some ways, but its basically an unthinking, unreasoned process. And all the secrecy means that no one has the proper oversight of what is going on." Continue reading

Pelosi: Willing to “Protect” Syrian Children To Death

"No recorded examples exist of Pelosi expressing anguish over the hundreds of thousands of Iraqi children who perished in anguish from starvation and disease as a result of the US-inflicted embargo that lasted from 1991 to 2003. Pelosi’s silence about that atrocity tacitly ratifies the assessment of her fellow humanitarian warmonger, Madeleine Albright, who blithely told 60 Minutes that the extermination of a half-million or more Iraqi children was a suitable price to pay in order to 'punish' Saddam Hussein. Pelosi has likewise been silent about the ongoing horrors experienced by the children of Fallujah, an Iraqi city that was pulverized by the US military in 2004." Continue reading

McCain blames Obama for U.S. losing credibility in the Middle East

"President Barack Obama’s failure to act amid spiralling violence in Egypt has led the US to lose all credibility in the Middle East, senator John McCain said Sunday. McCain compared US inaction to Obama’s policy on Syria. 'There is no policy. And there is no strategy. And therefore we react and we react poorly. One of the best examples is Syria where the president said Bashar al-Assad uses chemical weapons, that’s a red line. He’s used them and we have done virtually nothing in response to that. The centrifuges in Tehran continue to spin, Iraq unravels,' he said." Continue reading

Bolton Opposed To Both Syria Resolution And Obama Seeking Congress Approval

"John Bolton, the neoconservative who served as ambassador to the United Nations under former President George W. Bush, said Tuesday that he'd vote against the resolution to authorize the use of force in Syria if he were a member of Congress. But Bolton said he's opposed to President Barack Obama's decision to seek congressional approval, too. Sen. John McCain (R-AZ) said Monday that U.S. credibility would be 'shredded' if Congress does not approve the Syria resolution, but Bolton rejected that argument." Continue reading

Bill Bonner: Is it time to choose sides in Egypt?

"Is there a bigger jackass than John Bolton? He makes no mention of his own role in causing the regional chaos in the Middle East. He was a major war monger, arguing for the invasion of Iraq is now on track to cost the US more than $5 trillion... And who gained? Only Islamic terrorists...and the defense industry. Now he says we should go into Egypt on the side of the military. Why? He doesn't like the Muslim Brotherhood. How many brothers has he met? We don't know, but he gives the impression that he thinks they are bad people. Facing off against him in the WSJ is Elliot Abrams. We couldn't make much sense of Mr. Abrams' argument other than that he thinks the military rulers are bad people." Continue reading

The Muslim Holy War Against The ‘Great Satan’

"Western imperialism and its terrorist puppet regimes in this vast region over two centuries have produced an immense, exploding cauldron of rage against the puppets and the imperialists. The people have returned to their Muslim roots to give them hope and strength to endure the terrible wars they must fight for decades to rid their ancient homelands of these imperialists. The U.S. is sinking into an immense cauldron of Holy War against a billion Muslims and is fighting them with mercenary troops who for the most part believe in nothing but their pay-checks and retirement perks. It may even take a century of terrible war, but the outcome seems obvious." Continue reading

‘Let’s tax the sun’: new law shocks world press

"A new tax on solar power introduced two weeks ago by the Spanish government has been described as 'ludicrous' and 'stupid' in two leading international publications. Business Spectator interviewed people who plan to ignore the new law, including Sergio Pomar, chief executive of energy-efficient installation firm INEL. He said: 'If I spend €600 to install solar panels and get fined €6 million let the judge decide.' Private individuals who fail to hook their solar panels up to the national grid to be metered and taxed could face fines of up to €30 million ($40 million) under the new law. Some homeowners have removed their solar panels rather than face fines of up to €30 million." Continue reading

CEO of Danish CopyrightAlliance: “Control is Freedom!”

"Maria Fredenslund, the CEO of the Danish CopyrightAlliance, in a debate in which she argues for increased control of the Internet in the name of copyright, proclaims that 'control is freedom.' She lauds the 'highly controlled and regulated society we live in' and insists that 'control gives us freedom.' You see, 'Control and regulation creates innovation … and personal liberty.' She criticizes the Internet as being 'undemocratic' because there is not enough 'control' of it. And people say I am exaggerating when I use the term 'fascism' to describe IP." Continue reading

Experts: Syria attack could escalate violence and further destabilize region

"According to an article at the top of the New York Times website, even a well-executed strategic strike against the nation could aggravate tensions between Iran and Saudi Arabia — both nations that seek to dominate the region politically and militarily — and actually have the effect of buoying up Syria’s beleaguered President Bashar al-Assad. Middle East watchers say that the only truly predictable thing about the highly unstable region is that any actions will produce unintended consequences. They warn of a possible Assad-bolstering surge of anti-Americanism or even a spreading of hostilities to other countries in the region, including Turkey and Israel." Continue reading
