Homeland Security agent arrested after road rage shooting at mall

"Echevarria honked his horn at Juma's car after Juma cut him off near the Town Center mall. In response, Juma shot up his middle finger. Echevarria, driving with his wife and five children, tried to follow Juma's red Toyota but crashed into the back of another car. In the mall parking lot near the Nordstrom store, Echevarria saw Juma's car and parked his black Honda Pilot nose-to-nose with it. The special agent, dressed in civilian clothes, got out of his car, pointed a .40-caliber Sig Sauer handgun at Juma's car, and announced he was a police officer. Echevarria said Juma sped away, bumping him. The agent fired one round at the Toyota, police said, with the bullet lodging in the rear driver's side wheel well." Continue reading

Idaho Falls Police Crash a Backyard Birthday Party

"Alissa’s husband Victor, a naturalized citizen from the Dominican Republic, expressed frustration about getting a citation for 'disturbing the peace.' Officer Clark Lund snottily replied: 'If you don’t like it, you know how to leave.' Seconds later, for no identifiable reason, Lund barged into the house, then tasered Victor and his brother, Delosanto after shoving a pregnant woman to the floor and threatening a young mother who was holding a baby. Another officer shoved a 79-year-old grandmother. Two officers responding to Lund’s call for aid invaded a neighbor’s home with guns drawn. At least 11 police cars arrived, closing down the entire block." Continue reading

Neighbor Gets Tased While Cops Investigate Suicide Attempt

"The Blondins got within about 37 feet of the scene, heard Jack moaning and saw him pinned on the ground. Donald Blondin said, 'What are you doing to Jack?' and faced a barrage of orders to get back. When he didn’t move, or didn’t move enough, Sgt. Jeff Shelton rushed him with Taser drawn. A witness said that Blondin seemed to be 'frozen with fear.' Shelton warned Blondin that he was about to be Tased, but fired before he finished saying it, according to the ruling. The lower court threw out the Blondins’ lawsuit, saying the officer was 'immune' from suit in these circumstances." Continue reading

Officer convicted of assault after shooting and killing man and his dog

"Virgillo’s version of events had Chrisman barging into the trailer after Rodriguez had asked for a warrant, with Chrisman putting his weapon to Rodriguez’s head and responding that the gun served as his warrant. Rodriguez’s mother, Elvira Fernandez, took the witness stand when jurors were asked to determine whether Chrisman’s decision to point a gun at the head of Rodriguez caused emotional distress for Rodriguez’s family. Fernandez was moved to tears as she described her guilt over calling police that afternoon to report that her son had thrown something against the wall of their trailer and scared her, telling jurors that she thinks every day of her decision to call police." Former MNPD Officer Attempted Child Porn Framing Of Ex-Girlfriend

"A former Metropolitan Nashville Police officer was arrested after authorities said he used his resources as a cop to try to get his ex-girlfriend fired from her job. In April, authorities said McShepard sent an anonymous letter to the Commissioner of the Department of Children's Services making allegations of prostitution and pornography against a DCS employee. The letter contained confidential biographical information and provocative photos of the employee, who was McShepard's ex-girlfriend. An investigation proved those allegations were unfounded and that McShepard sent the information in attempt to cause her harm at work after they broke up." Continue reading

Lawsuit settled accusing former police officer of stalking in uniform

"The city of Roseville has settled a lawsuit accusing a former police officer of stalking and harassing a married Roseville woman while he was on duty and in full uniform. Cop Beaten Up on Camera While Bystanders Watch; No One Calls 911

"When a Philadelphia transit officer attempted to detain a ticket-scam suspect near a train station platform last week, surveillance video records the suspect turning on the cop and wrestling him to the ground, pinning him between a glass barrier and a bench. But the video also shows a crowd of at least seven transit customers observing the fight, including one who pulled out her phone to record the incident. Notably a similar incident happened at the same train station last week, WTXF reported. And again video captured two plain-clothes officers getting beaten up in front of a much larger crowd at Cecil B. Moore station in north Philadelphia." Continue reading

“You Know How to Leave”: Scenes from a Police Riot in Idaho Falls

"The initial police contact – to investigate a noise complaint, recall – occurred at around 10:49 PM. Within about twenty minutes, the air was thick with shouting and screaming, and a fleet of about a dozen police cars had converged on the address. Lund’s attack on Dindo left the living room floor filled with shattered furniture. So in the interests of preserving the 'peace,' Lund and his costumed buddies assaulted two unresisting men, committed felonious battery on a 79-year-old woman and a pregnant mother, destroyed property, terrorized a completely innocent next-door neighbor, and disrupted an entire city block. The Madrigals were able to post unedited video of most of the episode on-line." Continue reading

Police Officer Fired for Repeated Use of Taser on Senior With Alzheimer’s

"Doug Martin, an officer in Peru, Ind., had been summoned to Miller's Merry Manor on June 17, 2012, after a nurse called 911 for help in transporting a patient who had hit his roommate, a nurse and a nursing assistant. Martin and his partner, Officer Jeremy Brindle, entered the Alzheimer's ward to find 64-year-old James Howard sitting in a chair, wearing socks and nothing else. Howard refused the officers' command to lie on a gurney and advanced toward Brindle, who tried to handcuff Howard. When Brindle lost control of one of Howard's wrists, Martin yelled 'Taser' and deployed it on Howard's torso. Martin zapped Howard five times for a total of 31 seconds." Continue reading
