Blair likens Saddam to Hitler [2003]

"Comparing Saddam Hussein to Adolf Hitler, British Prime Minister Tony Blair says he would be pushing for Iraq's disarmament 'irrespective of the position of America.' Many have accused Blair of behaving like U.S. President George W. Bush's lapdog. But Blair rejected suggestions that he had been dragged into confrontation with Iraq by Bush, insisting that he had raised concerns about Saddam's weapons of mass destruction at his first meeting with the U.S. president, before the September 11 terror attacks. Britain, Spain and the United States are co-sponsoring a new U.N. resolution that could trigger war against Iraq. France, Russia, China are pushing to give U.N. weapons inspections more time." Is the U.S. the World’s Moral Authority as Obama Thinks?

"A U.S. bombing of Syria is an aggression because it cannot be justified by claiming defense or national interests. The U.S. cannot claim that it is acting for the world or the world’s good, surely not when it is being warned outright by other nations that the results may well be catastrophic. The U.S. cannot claim it is enforcing a treaty because Syria has not agreed to a chemical weapons treaty. Furthermore, the existing agreement among states did not include a provision that declares non-signers as outlaws and then authorizes the U.S. to be the policeman. The U.S. is acting unilaterally and outside the bounds of international law." Continue reading

Brzezinski: ‘Global Political Awakening’ Making Syrian War Difficult

"During a short interview with Germany’s DW News last Monday, former US National Security Adviser and Trilateral Commission co-founder Zbigniew Brzezinski commented on the growing inefficiency of war due to the increased political knowledge of the public. Despite Brzezinski’s noted long-term relationship with Obama which included a top foreign policy adviser position, Brzezinski denied any specific knowledge of his plans regarding Syria, saying that if the administration has a strategy, it’s a 'very well-kept secret.'" Bravo Britain

"BBC News fails to lead its Internet page with the magnificent news that Parliament, for once, has executed the will of the people, and that the UK will be staying out of Syria. Instead, the left-liberal interventionist at BBC News (people of Samantha Power’s ilk) have buried the item in an article about 'I, Obama' (America’s imperial president), and his administration’s various ahistoric, idiotic pronouncements. BBC News makes only veiled allusions to the 'unexpected outcome in the parliament,' to 'British MPs [ruling] out London’s involvement in any US-led strikes against Syria,' and to 'British members of [parliament's rejection] of the principle of military action against Damascus in a 285-272 vote.'" Australian spies participating in global deal to tap undersea cables

"The British Government Communications Headquarters is collecting all data transmitted to and from the UK and Northern Europe via the SEA-ME-WE-3 cable that runs from Japan, via Singapore, Djibouti, Suez and the Straits of Gibraltar to Northern Germany. Singaporean intelligence co-operates with Australia in accessing and sharing communications carried by the SEA-ME-WE-3 cable which lands at Tuas on the western side of Singapore Island. Access to this major international telecommunications channel via Singapore's government-owned operator SingTel and the country's Defence Ministry has been a key element in an expansion of Australian-Singaporean intelligence and defence ties." Glenn Greenwald’s Partner ‘Was Carrying A Stunning Amount Of Sensitive Documents’

"The Daily Telegraph's David Barrett tweeted out some of the details from the statement made Friday by Oliver Robbins, deputy national security adviser for intelligence, before U.K. judges. 'The material seized is highly likely to describe techniques which have been crucial in life-saving counter-terrorist operations, and other intelligence activities vital to U.K. national security,' Robbins said. 'The compromise of these methods would do serious damage to U.K. national security and ultimately risk lives.' The government told The Guardian newspaper that it had 'no confidence in their ability to keep the material safe.'" Continue reading

Codename ‘Apalachee’: How America Spies on Europe and the UN

"The classified documents, which SPIEGEL has seen, demonstrate how systematically the Americans target other countries and institutions like the EU, the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) in Vienna and the UN. They show how the NSA infiltrated the Europeans' internal computer network between New York and Washington, used US embassies abroad to intercept communications and eavesdropped on video conferences of UN diplomats. The surveillance is intensive and well-organized -- and it has little or nothing to do with counter-terrorism. In an internal presentation, the NSA sums up its vision, which is both global and frighteningly ambitious: 'information superiority'." Continue reading

Bernanke Has Injected Foreign Banks With Over $1 Trillion In Cash

"This means that, as we expected several months ago, the only recipient of ongoing Fed money printing are not US banks, but foreign banks operating in the US. For those confused about the big picture, here is a chart showing the breakdown of cash held by big and small US banks as well as foreign banks, superimposed to total reserves created by the Fed since the start of the Great Financial Crisis. The correlation is 100%. We are confident that we speak for all when we say: 'Thank you Ben - insolvent foreign banks appreciate your ongoing QE2 and QEternity-funded generosity'." Continue reading

Obama slams ‘incapacity’ of UN Security Council on Syria

"US President Barack Obama on Friday slammed the 'incapacity' of the UN Security Council to act on Syria and warned the world must not be 'paralyzed' on responding to a chemical weapons attack. 'What we have seen so far at least is an incapacity at this point for the Security Council to move forward in the face of a clear violation of international norms,' Obama said, as he met Baltic leaders at the White House Obama said he understood that there was widespread war fatigue both in the United States, Britain and elsewhere, but that did not absolve nations of their responsibilities." UN orders its inspectors out of Syria over fears of U.S. air strike

"UN weapons inspectors have been ordered to leave Syria early amid mounting anticipation of US-led military strikes. The inspectors had not been due to deliver their findings for a week at least, with the analysis of samples a painstaking task. The demand for a rushed early assessment reflects the fraught atmosphere at the UN triggered by US threats to launch punitive air strikes within days. The accelerated departure of the UN weapons inspectors was reminiscent of similar hasty exit from Iraq more than a decade ago, after receiving a tip-off from western intelligence agencies that US air strikes against Saddam Hussein’s regime were imminent."
