Kansas Bill Filed To Ban TSA Pat-Downs

"Rep. Brett Hildabrand wants to stop what he sees as over-the-top searches at the airport gate that distress innocent passengers by acting as if even the most unlikely pose a threat to air safety. 'Air travelers are subjected to aggressive, humiliating pat-downs, many of which would land the average stranger off the street in jail,' the Shawnee Republican said. 'But because the federal government has given someone a blue uniform and a badge, we are told that person has authority over our bodies and we must endure.'" Continue reading

Growing number of educators boycott standardized tests

"Since 2002, standardized tests have taken on more significance as federal mandates, beginning with the No Child Left Behind law, pushed schools to give annual tests and report the results publicly. The Obama administration has upped tests' importance by rewarding states whose schools tie student test scores to teacher evaluations. But the decision by a group of Seattle teachers to boycott a standardized test this winter could spill out to other cities as a decade of frustration over testing simmers. Since then, teachers at two more Seattle schools have said they'll sit out the test, with the approval of leading academics and both major U.S. teachers unions." Continue reading

Washington state prepares to take on TSA

"HB 1454, The Washington State Freedom Of Travel Act, uses clear and commonsense language to point out the illegal activities which the TSA is already carrying out on a regular basis and sets penalties for violations within the state. The bill goes on to mention the illegality of groping and removing children from parental custody without permission, important sections in light of the TSA's apparent policy of hiring criminals, including a former Catholic priest who was defrocked for sexually abusing young girls." Listening to the interview that took place on the Chad Hasty Show (Monday January 14, 2013) with Texas State Rep. Steve Toth, I was very excited about his 2nd Amendment Protection Bill.  (Listen to the full interview here.)  His bill will mimic Wyoming’s Firearms Protection Act. However, toward the end of the interview, Rep. Toth was asked if this bill would be aimed at just executive orders or all federal legislation affecting the Second Amendment.

CHAD HASTY:  Would this law that you’re filing, would this bill still cover any federal overreach that does pass through the House?  That does pass through Congress?

Idaho may be next state for lands fight with feds

"Language in statehood documents dating back to the 1800s contain a constitutional provision that the federal government intended to relinquish control of the land it held in each state. But for some states, especially those in the West, the federal government reneged, Utah state Rep. Ken Ivory says. In Idaho, more than 64 percent of the state's 53 million acres is under federal control. Both Idaho and North Dakota became states nine months apart and, Ivory claims, did so under identical statehood language. Yet, federally managed land in North Dakota accounts for less than 5 percent of the state's overall acreage." Continue reading

David Gay Speaks Nullification at Albany, NY Gun Rights Rally

"Central NY Campaign For Liberty organizer David Gay talks about opportunities for all people throughout the social strata to nullify bad legislation. Literally, all it takes is a lone, regular individual to single-handedly demolish a bad or illegal piece of legislation. Get yourselves on those juries. At the end of the trial, simply state 'I don't feel that the prosecution has proved that a crime has been committed...not guilty'. No victim, no crime. It's as simple as that. It's time to set the people of America free once again. Take back your rights without asking permission, and defend the rights of your neighbors. Start right now." Continue reading

Missouri Sheriffs Pledge To Not Enforce Obama’s Gun Control Laws

"In the letter Heiss tells the president that he has a duty to protect his constituents from incidents of crime, and has the responsibility to protect and preserve their rights and liberties. Newly elected Sheriff Michael Dixon, R-Osage County is one of about a dozen sheriffs in Missouri to have signed and sent Heiss’ letter. Dixon also announced his support of Missouri house bill (HB 170). The bill, introduced last week, would make criminals of any law enforcement official, local, state or federal, who tried to enforce any of President Obama’s gun control initiatives, whether executive orders or passed by Congress."
