Seymour Hersh on bin Laden death: ‘One big lie, not one word of it is true’

"Seymour Hersh has got some extreme ideas on how to fix journalism – close down the news bureaus of NBC and ABC, sack 90% of editors in publishing and get back to the fundamental job of journalists which, he says, is to be an outsider. Holding court to a packed audience at City University in London’s summer school on investigative journalism, 76-year-old Hersh is on full throttle, a whirlwind of amazing stories of how journalism used to be; how he exposed the My Lai massacre in Vietnam, how he got the Abu Ghraib pictures of American soldiers brutalising Iraqi prisoners, and what he thinks of Edward Snowden." Government Shutdown: An Oxymoron for Real Morons

"The words 'government shutdown' do not mean 'government shutdown.' They mean 'boondoggle shutdown.' They mean 'special-interest-group-subsidy shutdown.' What about the Post Office? Will it get shut down? No. What about the CIA? Will it get shut down? No. What about the NSA? Will it get shut down? No. What about the TSA? Will it get shut down? No. What about the Department of Homeland Security? Will it get shut down? No. My suggestion: stop worrying about a government shutdown. Instead, keep worrying about the government staying open . . . just like you did before." Continue reading

Peter Schiff Was Right – ‘Taper’ Edition

"When Ben Bernanke announced that the Federal Reserve's Open Market Committee was going to continue its monetary expansion program it calls Quantitative Easing, almost everyone in the financial media was taken by complete surprise. According to the mainstream media, the non-taper 'surprised almost everyone out there.' Well it did not surprise me, nor anyone who had been paying attention to what I had been saying. As I said repeatedly over the past several months, the Fed knows that the appearance of economic health would evaporate if its stimulus were withdrawn, or even diminished." Continue reading

Media Begin Orchestrating the Celebration: the FED’s 100th Birthday

"We are beginning to see a coordinated media celebration of the Federal Reserve System. This is in preparation for the 100th anniversary of its creation just before the Christmas holidays in 1913, when the bill was passed by a handful of Senators and signed into law within two hours by President Wilson. The Establishment media’s objective with this media blitz is clear: to praise the FED’s independence from the federal government, despite the fact that it possesses federal sovereignty. No other organization possesses federal sovereignty, yet is beyond federal control. It is unique in this respect." Continue reading

Autonomy of the Federal Reserve Is Praised by Media

"With the 100th birthday celebration of the FED coming in late December, the media have begun serving as the FED’s 'Amen corner.' This Associated Press article on Janet Yellen is typical. Her main qualification is said to be her independence of the President. Is she liberal? Yes. Is she a dove on inflation? Yes. No matter. No other institution of our government gets a free ride the way the Board of Governors of the FED does. No other agency with its URL ending in .gov has such autonomy. No, not even the CIA. The CIA still must be funded by Congress. The FED funds Congress." Continue reading

Jon Stewart Rips CNN Apart for Confusing, Frenzied Shooting Coverage

"Jon Stewart opened Tuesday night's Daily Show with a powerful indictment of how cable news covered the Washington Navy Yard shooting, aimed squarely at the 'breathless wrongness' of CNN. Stewart spent not one, but two whole segments mercilessly tearing CNN apart for how awfully it covered the shooting, especially all the unnecessary speculation. Stewart yelled at one CNN reporter, 'You're just standing in front of a camera naming shit you see!' and likened it to 'walking down the street with a five-year-old.' He ran the gamut from one anchor demanding to know the size of a building to another asking about the clothes someone who may have been the suspect possibly wore." Continue reading

Media Buries Psychiatric Drug Connection to Navy Shooter

"Alexis 'had been treated since August by the Veterans Administration for his mental problems.' Alexis also suffered from PTSD, blackouts and anger issues – all of which are treated with SSRI drugs. The most common form of treatment for PTSD is Paroxetine, which is listed as the number 3 top violence-causing drug by the Institute for Safe Medication Practices (ISMP). Despite it being reported that prescription drugs were found in the apartment of ‘Batman’ shooter James Holmes days after the Aurora massacre, it took nine months to find out exactly what those drugs were. Like Columbine killer Eric Harris, Holmes had been taking Zoloft, another SSRI drug linked with violent outbursts." Continue reading

This Man Can’t Say Why the Government Wants to Jail Him for a Century

"In the US government's campaign against journalists, Barrett Brown is one of the lesser-known victims. And now even less will be forthcoming about his story, as the Texas-based writer, satirist and Internet activist is under a federal court gag order, forbidden to talk about his case or the charges that could land him in prison for more than 100 years. Brown was arrested in Dallas a year ago, hit with a dozen charges of identity theft for pasting a link to the chat room of ProjectPM, a wiki research forum he founded in 2009. The link led to a huge cache of hacked documents posted to WikiLeaks that had been purloined from the intelligence contractor Stratfor Global Intelligence." Continue reading

‘HELP: Detroit is Waiting to be Rescued!’

"If I believe the sensationalist media, the city where I have spent my half-century on earth is barely recognizable to me anymore, thanks to the fourth estate bobbleheads who have either never step foot here, or, they take a moment to zip through the city via their hired limousines just long enough to have their camera crew photograph some background ruin porn while they spin their melodramatic tales of Detroit’s long, slow, harrowing demise due to bankruptcy woes, oodles of $100 houses falling into disrepair, dead bodies percolating from the ground, and lastly, angry packs of feral dogs (in gangs of 20) roaming the streets and eating humans as appetizers."
