Maryland Bill Would Ban State from Denying Firearms to Medical Marijuana Users

Under the proposed law, a person could not be denied the right to purchase, possess, or carry a firearm solely on the basis that they are authorized to use medical cannabis. The bill includes specific provisions prohibiting access to the state's medical marijuana database "for the purpose of approving or disapproving an individual from purchasing, owning, possessing, or carrying a firearm."

Colorado Bill Would Take on Federal Gun Control; Past, Present, and Future

Titled the “Second Amendment Preservation Act,” (SAPA) the legislation would ban any entity or person, including any public officer or employee of the state and its political subdivisions, from enforcing any past, present or future federal “acts, laws, executive orders, administrative orders, court orders, rules, regulations, statutes, or ordinances” that infringe on the right to keep and bear arms.

Constitutional Carry Bill Filed in Minnesota

Under the proposed law, anyone who is legally allowed to own a gun could carry it without a state-issued permit, though they would still be able to apply for one. Currently, Minnesota gun owners must apply for a five-year permit at their county sheriff’s office.

Nebraska Bill Would Ban State Enforcement of Federal Gun Control

Titled the “Second Amendment Preservation Act,” the bill would prohibit state agencies and law enforcement officers from enforcing a federal statute, order, rule, or regulation purporting to regulate a firearm, a firearm accessory, or firearm ammunition that “does not exist under the laws of this state,” except to comply with an order of a court.

Permitless Concealed Carry Bill Filed in Nebraska
