Montana Attorney General blames reporters for online threats against them

"Montana Attorney General Tim Fox (R) suggested that Associated Press reporters who were threatened after their personal information was leaked online brought it upon themselves. 'Whether or not there is a chilling effect I guess the media, the journalistic profession needs to contemplate when they ask for information whether or not they are creating a chilling effect in their own profession,' Fox told Montana Public Radio (MPR) when asked about the threats, which followed his office’s denial of an AP request for a copy of the state database concerning concealed firearm permit holders. A 2013 state law made such information classified." Continue reading

How Obama murdered the gun culture

"If you’re one of those gun owners who hasn’t done any major shooting in the last couple of years, or who hasn’t needed to purchase ammo in bulk, there is some bad news you’ve got to hear: You won’t be buying ammunition in bulk. At all. Time will tell if we must append the words 'ever again' to that statement, but in a few months, behind enemy lines here in New York state, there’s another stipulation all New Yorkers will have to add. You’ll have to pass a background check just to buy ammunition. It adds cost to the process, and there is no doubt that these costs will be passed on to the customer. This is governmental hostility to gun ownership in action." Continue reading

Apartment tenants told they must get rid of their guns

"Retired Marine Art Dorsch says his Second Amendment rights are in danger. His apartment complex, the Oakwood Apartments in Castle Rock, sent out a notice telling all residents to get rid of their guns. The 77-year-old retired US Marine Corps veteran sent a newstip to 9Wants to Know saying he's afraid he'll be homeless if he doesn't comply. The letter went out to residents on August 1 and says they have until October 1 to comply with updated 'community policies.' On page 2 is a brand new provision saying 'firearms and weapons are prohibited.' 'I'm a hunter. I'm a licensed conceal and carry person,' Dorsch said." Continue reading

Atlanta High School Has A Rifle Range

"When the all new North Atlanta High School opens its doors Wednesday, students will have sparkling new facilities including an indoor rifle range. The range was built for the school’s Junior Reserve Officer Training Corp and the rifle team. This isn’t the only on campus rifle range in Atlanta. A school spokesperson said the facility at NAHS is modeled after one already in use at Grady High School. According to Atlanta Public Schools, the program will have an instructor certified by the U.S. Army Cadet Command and the Georgia High School Athletic Association." Continue reading

Democratic anti-gun ‘guide’ urged using Trayvon Martin’s death to hit NRA, guns

"Newly uncovered Democratic anti-NRA talking points urge anti-gun advocates and politicians to hype high-profile gun incidents like the Florida slaying of Trayvon Martin to win support for new gun control laws. 'The most powerful time to communicate is when concern and emotions are running at their peak,' said the 80-page document titled 'Preventing Gun Violence Through Effective Messaging,' and produced by three Democratic firms led by the polling and research outfit Greenberg Quinlan Rosner Research." Mayhem in LA! Cars Must Be Banned!

"There was mass carnage yesterday on the Venice Beach boardwalk near LA when a man used his high-powered automobile to run over 12 people – killing one of them and sending the remainder to the hospital. The black car – a menacing color typically favored by the military – was used by a young man in his 20s – probably a loner. He may have bought the car without a background check, since these are not mandatory in California. Anyone can just go out and buy a car 'under the table' – from an unlicensed seller. There are no laws requiring that high-powered cars be kept securely stored, with their ignitions disabled or locked." Continue reading

Thousands now using online gun sales to avoid background checks: report

"Online gun sales have become a haven for buyers looking to avoid background checks, leading gun safety advocates concerned they are becoming more of a problem than sales at private gun shows, according to a new report by a progressive think tank. Among the advertisements for more than 15,000 guns on the sales site Armslist, in 10 states where lawmakers voted against bills that would have required background checks for private gun sales were nearly 2,000 listings by people looking to buy their firearms privately. 'Nobody’s monitoring this,' Hatalsky told the Post. 'Nobody has any ability to stop these people who are looking for private sellers.'" Continue reading

Arkansas Attorney General Won’t Let School Arm Teachers

"Arkansas school districts can’t use a little-known state law to employ teachers and staff as guards who can carry guns on campus, the state’s attorney general said Thursday in an opinion that likely ends a district’s plan to arm more than 20 employees when school starts later this year. The Lake Hamilton School District has been using the same law for years to train a handful of administrators as security guards, but the guns are locked away and not carried by the administrators during the school day." Mayor Bloomberg blames Virginia for many of New York’s gun crimes

"New York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg blames Virginia and several other southern state’s for the Big Apple’s gun crimes — so now he’s set his Mayors Against Illegal Guns’ sights on the Deep South for a Second Amendment crackdown. His chief of staff, John Feinblatt, said if states like Virginia only implemented common-sense provisions, then violent crime rates would fall. Other states faulted by Mr. Feinblatt: South Carolina, for contributing 251 'crime guns' in 2011, he said. And Georgia, Alabama and Texas – all states that allow for online gun sales absent background checks." Continue reading

The First Commercial 3D Printed Metal Gun Part

"Neal Brace, founder of Sintercore LLC and a former US Marine infantryman, has developed the world’s first commercially available 3D printed firearm accessory. What sets Sintercore’s component apart from previous 3D printed firearm designs is that it was manufactured using direct metal laser sintering technology, rather than a plastic 3D printer. To ensure that their product is safe, Sintercore has designed their muzzle brake to be printed in Inconel, a nickel-chromium super alloy that’s traditionally reserved for use in extreme environments like gas turbine blades, supercharger rotors, and F1 and NASCAR exhaust systems."
