Drudge Poll: 91% Say “Stay Out of Syria.”

"This is not a scientific poll, but Obama’s spinmeisters had better pay attention to it. Obama drew a macho-man line in the sand with his vow to take action if Syria used chemical weapons. What’s a would-be macho guy to do? Go to Congress? Yes, say the voters. What will Congress do? It will put its collective finger in the wind. The general public seems split. As long as American missiles kill innocent Syrian women and children from on high, half of the voters are content. After all, Assad’s weapons killed innocent women and children. Half the voters think the proper response is an eye for an eye: more dead women and children. That will show Assad who is in charge." Continue reading

Mother, daughter sentenced for Internet scam targeting U.S. military supporters

"A Colorado mother and daughter were sentenced on Wednesday for their roles in a 'Nigerian internet romance scam.' Karen and Tracy Vasseur were convicted of stealing more than $1 million from 374 victims who thought they were sending money to aid members of the U.S. military. Unknown conspirators in Nigeria would establish online relationships with victims via e-mail or social media by sending them fake military documents and personal photographs. After the relationship was established, the purported military member would request large sums of money, ostensibly for satellite phones that would allow them to speak to the victims or travel funds that would allow them to visit." Lawmaker: My ‘gut feeling’ says Syria got chemical weapons from Iraq

"While admitting to not having any information on the matter, Rep. Lee Terry (R-NE) still offered speculation based on his 'gut feeling' that the Syrian government acquired chemical weapons from Iraq, the Huffington Post reported. 'I have not had any classified briefing, but all we know is that Iraq had declared chemical and biological weapons, and then they weren’t there,' Terry told radio host Tom Becka on Thursday. 'It wasn’t something that the U.S. was guessing, that was something that they actually declared. But they went someplace.' Terry, who supported the U.S. campaign to oust Saddam Hussein from power in Iraq, said Syria was a different situation." Continue reading

And the Winner of Bush’s Iraq War Is . . . Iran!

"Why did they vote for the resolution in 2003? 'They had weapons of mass destruction.' Well, no, they didn’t. Then why continue to vote to fund it? 'Support our troops!' Right. Get them killed. Get their limbs shot off. Once a President sucks in Congress on backing an invasion — which is 100% of the time — Congress keeps funding the carnage until the next President quietly pulls them out. Always. Support our troops! Today, the USA has zero influence in Iraq. Iran runs the show from the shadows." Continue reading

Who Built the Syrian Electronic Army?

"A hacking group calling itself the Syrian Electronic Army (SEA) has been getting an unusual amount of press lately, most recently after hijacking the Web sites of The New York Times and The Washington Post, among others. But surprisingly little light has been shed on the individuals behind these headline-grabbing attacks. Beginning today, I’ll be taking a closer look at this organization, starting with one of the group’s core architects." Continue reading

U.S. spying still under shadow of Iraq intelligence failures

"In the run-up to the invasion of Iraq 10 years ago, the CIA and other intelligence services confidently asserted that Saddam Hussein’s regime had stockpiles of weapons of mass destruction. But it turned out the intelligence community was 'dead wrong in almost all of its pre-war judgments about Iraq’s weapons of mass destruction,' according to an official inquiry, the Silberman-Robb report. The spy services failed to collect solid information, botched their analysis and reached conclusions based on flawed assumptions instead of evidence, making it 'one of the most public — and most damaging — intelligence failures in recent American history,' the 2005 report said." Economic Darwinism and the Next Financial Crisis

"The boom times enabled animals called bankers grow to massive size. Nature selected those who were the fittest for that environment. When the environment changed, these animals were like dinosaurs staring at the glaciers. The interest rate policy of the Federal Reserve today is designed to keep those dinosaurs warm and well fed. The people who run our country were largely selected by Economic Darwinism from a pool of people who owe their success to cheap interest. It is no surprise that these people see cheap interest as the only solution to our economic woes. This policy is about rebuilding their past rather than improving your future." Continue reading

Fast food workers strike in 50 cities to demand wages of $15/hour, right to unionize

"The protest movement first began in New York last November with a strike by 200 workers but quickly spread across the country with strikes in July taking place in Chicago, Detroit, Flint, Kansas City, Milwaukee and St Louis. On Thursday organizers said the strike will hit some 1,000 major fast-food restaurants, including Burger King, Wendy’s, Taco Bell, Pizza Hut and KFC. 'Hold the burgers, hold the fries, make worker wages supersize!' read a tweet from Fight for 15, a workers organizing committee. 'Many of these workers have children and are trying to support a family,' said Mary Kay Henry of the Service Employees International Union, which is supporting the strike." Continue reading

Detroit McDonald’s Forced To Close Amid Protest For Higher Wages

"A local McDonald’s restaurant was forced to close after its employees walked out and hundreds gathered outside to protest for higher wages. The restaurant on 8 Mile and Lahser roads along the Detroit/Southfield city line was just one location locally where fast food workers are participating in a nationwide 'walkout for better wages.' Over 200 protestors crowded the restaurant, carrying signs that read 'We are worth more. Strike for 15,' as in $15 an hour. The National Restaurant Association says the low wages reflect the fact that most fast-food workers tend to be younger and have little work experience." Continue reading

Alabama candidate wins by 72 votes after sorority offers voters free drinks

"An candidate for the Tuscaloosa City School Board in Alabama has appeared to defeat his opponent by just 72 votes after a sorority got behind him by offering free drinks and limo rides to the polls to encourage people to vote. In all, more than 60 percent of the people who signed up to vote during the final week were college-aged women. In an email obtained by Al.com, University of Alabama sorority members were promised 'incentives' to vote for Cason Kirby and Lee Garrison. On Tuesday, stretch SUV limousines, vans and a passenger bus were seen taking students from Sorority Row to the polling place." Continue reading
