Subtitle: So they can continue pushing for “the public option”, and continue commandeering our state’s budget.
As we reported on Friday, November 3, I discovered that the radio ads blanketing Nebraska’s airwaves advocating for people to vote in favor of Proposed Amendment No. 3 on Nebraska’s ballots in Tuesday’s General Election, were paid for by the Nebraska teachers’ union, Nebraska State Education Association (NSEA).
Amendment No. 3 would extend Nebraska’s current term limits provisions from two consecutive four year terms to a possible three consecutive four year terms. That means currently, State Senators may serve 8 years, then have to sit out for 4 years before they can run again. Amendment No. 3 would allow for a total of 12 years before having to sit out for four.
Based on the events which occurred, which included the legislative sponsor, State Senator Tom Carlson, Republican (District 38), taking the $5,000 from NSEA and starting a PAC with the misleading name “Nebraskans to Preserve Term Limits”, it is unavoidable to conclude the following, AT THE VERY LEAST:
- NSEA didn’t want ITS name on the radio ads or seen as very visibly supporting the term limits extension
- Tom Carlson didn’t want to be visibly attached to the NSEA
Nebraskans truly need to understand, for starters…
- That the teachers’ union is the most powerful special interest lobby in the state of Nebraska
- They have a very left-wing agenda that is contrary to the sentiments of most Nebraskans, including a desire for “single payer” or “public option” health care
It’s important because, among many other critical issues, it’s tied to the ACTUAL health of our budget (as opposed to the myth) and our personal liberties in conjunction with how much of the health care law will be foisted upon us.
For the immediate purposes of tomorrow’s election, more voters need to be educated about Proposed Amendments No. 3 & 4.
I’ve produced a video, embedded below, which is designed to expose NSEA’s contribution to Tom Carlson, his actions, NSEA’s advocacy for single-payer health care, and urge AGAINST votes on Proposed Amendments No. 3 & 4.

And the “theme song” for the whole affair:
