Financial Collapse: Can It Happen Here? If So, Then What?

There is an unfortunate tendency within human beings to deny the truth if it is too difficult to process. Politically this phenomenon is seen most frequently when people make the acknowledgment that it would be better to sweep incumbents out of office and start over with some “real people”. When it comes time to vote, [...]

47% of Nebraska Births Paid for By the State: Is that Good?

Several articles we've published recently reported on a meeting of Nebraska Senators representing districts in Lancaster that occurred on November 17 in Lincoln. One of those articles, NE Senators Meeting 11/17 Part 2: Voices Not Often Heard, focused on remarks Linda and I made addressing core questions regarding the true purpose of government and whether or not the $900 million+ - $1.4 billion budget shortfall is being taken seriously enough. Linda focused in particular on the serious problems with Nebraska's Medicaid system. Following the meeting, Linda sent a letter to the Senators who attended to reinforce several of the points she'd made, which we are sharing, below. Linda did some additional research following writing her letter, which lays out even more problems coming with Medicaid, which you can read about HERE.

A GiN Toast to OK Sen. Inhofe: Christmas is About Christ

We propose a toast to Oklahoma’s U.S. Senator James Inhofe for taking the right stand on participating in an annual Tulsa parade. Inhofe has refused to participate for the past two seasons in what is now called “Tulsa’s Parade of Lights” because, he noted, “I did not do so last year, because I’m not going [...]

Feeling Surprised & Betrayed By GOP Senate Votes On Food Safety Bill?

By Shelli Dawdy I wish I could say that I find the results of Tuesday’s Senate vote on S-510 a surprise, but I don’t. People have expressed shock that so many Republican Senators voted in favor of granting a lot more power to the FDA, spending $1.4 billion we cannot afford, and likely hurting smaller-sized [...]

Federal and State Sovereignty Threat You May Not Know About

A simple search on Google for the term “sustainable development” with the “images” tab selected yields a veritable treasure trove of images, many of which are similar to the one above.  Of course the term “sustainable development” sounds so good – who doesn’t want development that is sustainable? BUT, I don’t know about anyone else, [...]

How IS That Whole European Union Thing Working Out?

The whole concept of the European Union was a move to consolidate those countries into a single government structure with a common currency. To borrow some British slang, that sounds like a simply smashing idea, doesn’t it? If one believes in the notion of limited government and the only way to keep government limited is [...]

As the holiday weekend continues, if you’re looking for some substantive diversion from the usual pursuits, I have the following documentary to recommend. It seems a very appropriate moment to recommend it as we are nearing the end of one year and ready to begin a new one. Hosted by John Stossel and aired on [...]

For tomorrow’s Thanksgiving meal, Linda and I have a suggestion for you if you’re tired of trying to figure out a new way of serving up the main dish at your feast, perhaps you’ll get an idea from the following video: A Note From Linda: There are distinct advantages to giving birth to sons late [...]

By Shelli Dawdy Big thanks to Linda for helping with this to refresh my memory! Yesterday we published an article about the meeting of Nebraska State Senators representing districts in Lancaster County that occurred last Wednesday, November 17. As noted, the first half of the meeting was allocated for the purpose of taking public input [...]
