Obama Wins A Second Term: Now What?

"The game will go on until the time is up for our nation. Austerity measures will dramatically increase, benefits and promises will be lost by the poor and remaining middle class citizens who really need them and taxes will rise, as will the risk of gold and wealth confiscation. Obama will be blamed, just as Romney would have been blamed had he been elected president, for this is how our regulatory/debt democracy works today in the 21st century. A failed system of central bank control leading a failed economy, a failing currency and a controlled system totally divorced from control or limitation by the citizens of America." Continue reading

Intrade Was Right: Obama, Senate, House

"I never doubted Intrade's results after the Senate fell from 53-47 for the Republicans to 20-80 against. There was no 'margin of error' worth talking about in any of the three betting markets: President, Senate, or House. There comes a time to face up to reality. The reality is this: the polls are no match for the accuracy of betting sites when a large number of people are betting. All of the money spent on polling was wasted. All of the emotion spent on assessing the polls was wasted." Continue reading

Stewart: 2 years and $3 billion later, U.S. in ‘same place we were’ before election

"Jon Stewart pointed out that for all of the fuss and expense of the 2012 election, the U.S. has ended up in virtually the exact same political situation as it was two years ago. After announcing Democratic victories in Massachusetts and Missouri, as well as the results of the presidential race, Stewart said, 'Once again, just let me very quickly announce this: House of Representatives, Republican. In the Senate, Democrats, the presidency, Barack Obama, let’s see. Two years, $3 billion and we are clearly in the same place we were when it started.'" Continue reading

Four More Years of Uncertainty

"The 2012 elections mercifully are over, but we Americans find ourselves right back where we were. America remains a bitterly divided nation with roughly equal numbers on both sides. President Obama, narrowly re-elected, can hardly claim a mandate based on the popular vote. The U.S. Senate remains in the hands of partisan Democrats led by the charlatan Harry Reid. And the House of Representatives is still in conservative Republican control. I think the election results demonstrate that American voters, whether they collectively realize it or not, have guaranteed a continuation of the national mood of entrenched political animosity." Pakistani flagmakers may see boost in sales after Obama victory spurs more effigies

"Demonstrations against Washington’s programme of missile strikes against suspected Al-Qaeda and Taliban militants are common in Pakistan, and no protest is complete without a Stars and Stripes being sent up in flames. Nadeem Shah, the owner of a flag business in Rawalpindi, the twin city of the capital Islamabad, said he expected more drone strikes — and more protests. In Rawalpindi, US flags start at around 120 rupees ($1.25) but in Nadeem Shah’s shop 1,500 rupees will get you a three-square-metre number in cloth." Continue reading

"Aurora's police chief is defending against allegations of rampant sexual misconduct within the department by a former police officer who blew the whistle in court while being convicted for sexual assault on a minor. The toddler is being potty trained, and he wasn't near the facilities, so he unzipped. We are told before he could pee, a Piedmont police officer stopped him. "A two-county SWAT team was sent to a home in Idaho Springs to evict a 63-year-old woman. Business fined $4,000 over missing trashcan lid

"Jones is one of the owners of Buckingham Slate, a Virginia business a little over an hour's drive west of Richmond. The company is distinguished by the quality of the highly valued Arvonia slate it produces. And by the fact that its roots trace back almost to the Civil War.
