Hello all,
Last week, we had the conference call, quickly put together to discuss with others around the country what we could do about the Cap & Trade vote in the House. We determined to pool information, create bulletin points, and to issue a group press release that could be used anywhere to send both to members of the House and to local media.
In the short time we had, working together we were all able to get good information out to people, and the press release went a bit viral. Many people within the networks of the folks on the phone wanted their name added to the release. There’s never anyway to quantify these kinds of efforts, but the fact is, that vote was closer than expected. All of the efforts made throughout the country did have some impact.
Many of us would like to have another conference call to discuss how we can put pressure on the Senate, to stop this bill from passing in that body. We have more time to work in that Congress is on the holiday break, but we have less time as many of us prepare for July 4 Tea Parties. As we all know, there were three hundred extra pages added to this bill in the middle of the night that need reading, facts that need to be gathered. Many of us would like to rally our troops on the Fourth of July but we need accurate information in summary form and up to date information to do so.
I propose the following agenda for the call:
1) Brief review of existing bill summary by Dawn Wildman (CA)
2) Discovery of existing bill summaries by others on the line
3) Divide balance of the bill among those who are willing to commit to do so
4) Establish a deadline for the submission of summaries (24 – 48 hours)
5) Obtain commitment from volunteer(s), preferably who are not putting on a July Tea Party to consolidate the information.
5) Briefly discuss potential actions we can all take both before and at Tea Parties
6) Discuss an additional press release and effectiveness of wider signing and issuance
7) Determine if a follow-up call is necessary

One potentially helpful tool we can make use of is the Tuesday night radio show that Sandra and I do on Blog Talk Radio at 7PM CST. We plan to talk about the bill, including any newly available information. If we had enough people plan to call in and enough new information, the archived file could be linked to and used as another way of getting the information out.
HERE is the link for the upcoming show. People who can’t make the conference call tonight are welcome to call in to the show to discuss the matter. The call in number is 615-915-9997.
