Arkansas Bill Would Make Gold and Silver Legal Tender in the State

The legislation would make “gold and silver specie” legal tender in the state, meaning it would be recognized as a medium of exchange within the state. New York Bill Would Ban Cell Site Simulators, Hinder Federal Surveillance

The proposed law would ban New York law enforcement agencies from purchasing or using cell-site simulators, commonly known as “stingrays.” These devices essentially spoof cell phone towers, tricking any device within range into connecting to the stingray instead of the tower. This allows law enforcement to sweep up communications content, as well as locate and track the person in possession of a specific phone or electronic device. Police often obtain and use stingray technology in complete secrecy and use it to track people and gather electronic data without a warrant.

Minnesota Committee Passes Bill to Ban No-Knock Warrants

Under the proposed law, Minnesota courts would be prohibited from issuing a no-knock warrant. A no-knock warrant is defined as a search warrant authorizing peace officers to enter certain premises without first loudly and understandably announcing the officer’s presence or purpose and waiting a reasonable amount of time thereafter prior to entering the premises to allow the subject to become alert and able to comply.

To the Governor: Mississippi Bill to Prohibit Credit Card Tracking Codes on Firearms Purchases

Titled the Second Amendment Financial Privacy Act, the legislation would prohibit a financial institution or its agent from requiring the usage of a firearms code in a way that distinguishes a firearms retailer physically located in the state of Mississippi from general merchandise retailers or sporting goods retailers.

Oklahoma House Passes Bill That Would Help Minimize the Impact of Central Bank Digital Currencies

Under the proposed law, businesses providing “basic needs, selling or offering for sale goods or services during regular business hours” would be prohibited from requiring payment by a central bank digital currency. It would also bar them from prohibiting the use of cash.

Michigan Bill Would Set Foundation to End Unconstitutional National Guard Deployments

Titled the Defend the Guard Act, the legislation would prohibit the governor from releasing the Michigan National Guard or any member thereof into “active duty combat” unless Congress has passed an official declaration of war or has taken an official action under article I, § 8, clause 15 of the Constitution to explicitly call forth the state militia to execute the laws of the United States, repel an invasion, or suppress an insurrection.

Signed as Law: Idaho Expands Raw Milk Sales in the State

The new law simplifies current state law on herd share agreements for the acquisition of raw milk and removes limits on the number of animals allowed in a shared herd. It also eliminates some of the current regulations on farms hosting shared herds.
